So in Europe every person who has every played basketball quasi - seriously would take Durant, I've only once heard somebody take Curry and his iq was that of an ant. Now I understand what curry brings, but any non casual will tell you that curry is just another kyrie level player without his perfect situation. Imo the situation >>>> his impact and it's pretty obvious why:
    - the moving screens, the super stacked team, and the cakewalks he got to the finals were more team related then curry related. Just watch the games where he didn't play or played poorly, as a team they've been consistent overall.
    - When he played for team USA he was basically a nobody, getting outplayed by depimple/kyrie..
    - he can't carry a weak team in case it isn't obvious, his game is predicated on chucking from 3 and that's it, which is almost guaranteed to be inefficient. Harden at least can attack the rim, draw fts, iso, etc.
    - he shot 40% vs dellavedova (who?)
    - he is 0/33 ffs, it's got to be a record for a presumably top 5 player
    - he is a very poor defender (reaching, weak positioning, weak awareness, he is weak physically, can't rotate, always hidden on the worst player, always picked out by the other team, etc)
    - his shooting isn't the key to golden state, it's just a bonus on a great space+shooting team. I mean raymond, klay, igguadala, livingston even mobile bigs like speights and now durant, they just need a decent pg and they're set tbh.
    - no post game
    - poor offball
    - not stellar isolation, you won't see curry dominate 1v1 consistently like durant/lebron/irving/etc. He just lacks the size/slashing/athleticism/stamina.
    - mentally weak (we've seen this many times, each time things aren't going his way he overreacts, chucks, throws tantrums, etc). He isn't a leader at all. Can you imagine lebron/kobe throwing a mouthpiece at the ref in a must win game?
    - imo he can't play half court at all, end-to-end he is good but in the half court he just isn't in control
    - can't control the pace of the game. Look at lebron/cp3/magic/jordan/even peak kobe and wade ... they could control the pace, slow it down, accelerate, etc depending on team needs. Curry can only play on speed. I know this is the best speed for GSW but at the olympics it was obvious.
    - he is one of the most passive aggressive es out there. I thought lebron was bad but this boy is just
    - I am subjective but his wife is just another minus. How can you marry a dumbass woman who'd meddle in your work?
Besides the last one these are all objective observations tbh, I'm not nitpicking here (like his inconsistent streaks and how variance leads to losses, etc), I'm just enumerating easy to confirm facts.

I understand that he is a great shooter off the dribble and an adequate PG but his overall game is that of an all-star and not more, I just can't understand how somebody can reasonably say that he is a top 5 player. In Europe it's unanimous with everybody I talk with (don't forget shooting is very valued in Europe)that Durant >> Curry, in the USA things aren't at all so decided. Just curious why you americans see this so differently, do you appreciate hero ball that much tbh?

He's a top 5 player because he pulls a double team at half court if the opposing team is serious about winning. NBA is about making shots and no one does that better than Curry. Having Durant on his team creates a juggernaut without question, but even without Durant the Warriors were the best team in the West, which according to most here, makes them the best in the league. But you can shut him down if you focus on him. You cannot shutdown Durant. He's been held back some by great defenders like Kawhi, but you saw what KD did to the Cavs in Cleveland, stone cold killer.

With the other, each is that much more dangerous. Add Klay into the mix and now you have something you can't stop, and the only way to beat them at full strength is to score 50 a quarter like Lebron's team did that one game.

They will only go away due to internal chemistry issues, greedy agents and other teams overpaying guys who got too much prime face time during the Finals.

    LeBron? No.

Kirby? Pretty sure he has thrown his pacifier and much worse.

    Solid takes.
Pizza and he are equally made.
Currys shooting (when he is completely pampered with all your aforementioned) is historic tho.

disagree that he is top 5.
bolded : you let a physical team play real man defense on this sissy warrior squad and they won't hit after 2-3 games because they'll get tired. It's easy hitting 3s with screens whistled for offense only and when a defender isn't even allowed to breathe on you, it's not so easy if defense is allowed. Also they can play only isos and 3s, they have zero post action, just a bas ized game tbh.

0/33 FMVP votes. you get 2 rings and not one vote?

    LeBron? No.
Kirby? Pretty sure he has thrown his pacifier and much worse.
son we all know kobe wasn't the best teamplayer but kobe >>>> curry as a leader. Kobe at least manned up, played through injury, didn't defer, competed on the glass when his shot wasn't falling, defended the toughest matchup, and kept his wife off tv. We all know his (many) fails, but he had leadership, not the best kind but that's life.

Neither of us has the control to "let them" do anything. Officiating being a constant (meaning not a variable we can adjust), they are unstoppable. They don't need a post game. They'd lose points with a high efficiency post game vs the triple threat from 3 in Steph, KD and Klay. They still get inside with how wide they spread the defense though.

    1. officiating varies in time and per game. Look in '16 when the refs let them play how GSW shot from deep. It's far from a constant. It also greatly affects the game.
    2. officiating these days is a joke, made to favor soft and lazy players like curry/harden/durant who sell well to the soft and lazy milleneal generation. Imo just one change to the rules and they become mortal fast, say they let defenders actually fight through screens or call blocking screens for once... this tiny change and they are back to beatable, and that's where a complete game is important, you can't rely on made rules for ever. And rules change quick, lebron got no crazy calls against boston because boston-la was a huge marketing ploy. A post game in '10 would've been great for lebron but he didn't have it. See my point? Incomplete players and incomplete teams have no business in the GOAT discussion. The warriors would get manhandled by the '96 bulls or '01 lakers. MANHANDLED. It would get ugly really fast.

    Rack this.
You need to include the 2014 Spurs as wiping the floor with the Twinkies.
I'm not so sure 2017 Kawhi doesn't finish them off.

This is just whining. No one who matters has any control over it. Why discuss it?
