I'm gonna burn this rectory down if this keeps me from Jimmer time!!
this thread helped me decide that i'm no longer a spurs fan.
What Monroe tweeted doesn't even make sense. He claims 15 Spurs are fully guaranteed, then goes on to say including Williams' partial guarantee.
On a related note, Pincus has Bonner listed as non-guaranteed, with the guarantee date to be determined. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/sa...s-team-salary/
He's probably the most credible source for contract details going (you could argue Deeks, but he doesn't update nearly as frequently), so unless this is a misprint, it's probably true.
Could be that they've agreed to bring him to camp, see if he still has anything left and if not, he'll retire and join the front office in some capacity. He recently took a course for current players interested in joining a front office after they retire.
That is interesting about Bonner because he already didn't bring too much to the team, but then on top of that last year he shot poorly. A designated shooter who can't shoot, what is the point? They don't even run him through screens, it's mostly a spot shooter who can't shoot. Maybe they want to see if his shot is gone for good. That would get my hopes up...
Regarding Bonner (not sure how reliable is the source):
If Spurs keep Bonner, the league will reimburse a part of his salary. Only $947,276 of Bonner's salary will be paid by Spurs. Even when counting the luxury tax, the saving from cutting Bonner will be minimal.
It's a little weird contract but I guess the reason behind it is his elbow injury. If Bonner still can't shoot because of it, he will be waived otherwise he will be kept.
The Spurs just better hope that Bonner isn't eligible for a phone upgrade until after the season is over.
How long has he had this elbow injury? I just didn't like the signing because he couldn't even hit hardly any of his open shots last season. I figured that is was time to move on. If he could/can still hit his open shots, then he'd still be useful, but if he can't, I just don't see the point in wasting a roster spot on him. In the case of him not getting his shot back, I think he'd best serve the team as an assistant coach who can help the new guys learn the system. He'd be very useful in that role IMO.
Reggie Williams is playing for Team USA to try to secure a spot in FIBA. The Olympic Gold is no longer an automatic qualifier.

Underwhelming list of names...
That team sucks. If that list of d leaguers can qualify then the other teams suck bigly.
What is this tournament for? Is this for Olympic qualification? or FIBA World Cup qualification? What do they need to do to qualify? Win it, or finish in the top 2?
Neither of those. There are dedicated qualifiying tournaments for the World Cup (during the season) and the Olympics:
