This guy is smart.
They got behind reinforced structure by the car wash, yet still near sheet metal roofing that's gonna catch a ton of wind and come down for the dramatic. If they had gone into Key Allegro proper they would have had roofs hitting them from all directions and then 2x 4s in a much more built up area. They would have been hit from every direction with no good cover.
And the car wash is a relatively open area but could still illustrate damage while lending some safety.
I don't know how they are going to move around well though. If they really put those cars in 140 mph wind without a buffer... And so much on the streets blowing around in even 50 mph wind now that so much destruction has already occurred...

Just watched Steve Brown who correctly called this a Cat 4 yesterday. Said the models are off and it's coming further inland before stalling. Expect hurricane force winds in SA tomorrow.

I have seen 2 multimillion dollar houses go up in Key Allegro within the past year. One was practically all Beautful blue tinted window with spiral staircases and a walk across hallway of glass above ground going to another part of the house.
It had some steel reinforcement but all those windows and it was right on the water facing bay. The other was just stucco. But had all these different sized high columns for different levels of rooms.
