Trump Reportedly Fed Up With Rex Tillerson: ‘Rex Just Doesn’t Get It’
President Donald Trump’s patience with Rex Tillerson, his secretary of state, is wearing thin according to a new report from Axios.
Jonathan Swan reports that the president “has been growing increasingly frustrated with his Secretary of State,” with Axios’s Mike Allen adding that U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is a possible replacement.
One source told Swan that after Trump returned from a recent meeting on Afghanistan, the president said “Rex just doesn’t get it, he’s totally establishment in his thinking.”
“We’ve been hearing for weeks, from sources who’ve spoken to the president, that Trump is getting more and more fed up with Tillerson, who has still yet to staff his agency,” Swan reports.
There are apparently growing concerns in the administration that Tillerson has yet to appoint top roles at the State Department, “empowering only the tiniest inner circle,” which falls in line with reports the secretary of state has “destroyed morale” at the department.
Trump’s frustrations were likely compounded by Tillerson’s eyebrow-raising comments to Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, in which the secretary of state seemed to distance himself from Trump’s response to the Charlottesville terror attack.
When asked about the “president’s values,” Tillerson said “the president speaks for himself,” a remark that left Wallace perplexed.

U.S. Moves to Build Prototypes for Mexican Border Wall
The Department of Homeland Security took the first major step on Thursday toward building a barrier on the border with Mexico, a key campaign promise of President Trump, as officials announced that they had awarded contracts to build several prototypes of a concrete wall.
Four companies will build the prototypes in the San Diego area, said officials at Customs and Border Protection, an agency within the department. The companies selected will each have 30 days to complete the projects after the agency gives them the order to proceed.
“The border wall prototypes and designs will complement other tools we employ to secure our borders,” said Ronald D. Vitiello, acting deputy commissioner at Customs and Border Protection.
Mr. Vitiello said that the prototypes would be about
30 feet high and that the contracts were between $400,000 and $500,000 each.
The department has reallocated $20 million from other programs to pay for the prototypes and related costs.

With a Confederate song blaring from his truck, an Oregon man drove into a crowd of protestors
A black Chevy Silverado with Oregon plates and two large American flags and several small flags hanging from its windows (along with a Confederate flag decal displayed on the back window of the cab) drove up to the marchers. It was driving slowly down a street flanked by people dressed in black bloc clothing.The driver, seen in the video below, drove through the crowd for a full block.
As the crowd parted to clear the way for the truck to move forward, protesters filled the street behind it and started throwing rocks and water bottles at the truck.
The driver suddenly put his vehicle in reverse and accelerated toward the protesters. As he sped up, people jumped out of the street.
Not once, but twice.

WASHINGTON — Upbraiding the ESPN anchor Jemele Hill for calling Donald Trump a “white supremacist,” the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said on Wednesday that “no one has done more than President Trump to prove that white people are not superior.”
“It’s grossly unfair that Ms. Hill sought to portray Donald Trump as an upholder of white supremacy, when everything he says or does directly undermines that whole concept,” Sanders said.
“Anyone who thinks that Donald Trump is on some mission to make white people look good hasn’t been paying attention.”
Sanders urged the ESPN anchor to “do her homework” on Trump before making baseless allegations.
“Read his tweets,” she said. “Listen to his speeches. If you still think Donald Trump is trying to prove that white people are superior, I tip my hat to you.”
Ending on a personal note, Sanders said that she was
“a hundred-per-cent sure” that her boss is not a white supremacist.
“Donald Trump cannot even spell the word ‘supremacist,’ ” she said.
