Former President Barack Obama's budget request for 2018 came in at $1,153,000, poised to make him the most expensive president to taxpayers, The Washington Times reported.
Obama's official allowance eclipses George W. Bush by $100,000 and Bill Clinton by $200,000, the Times reported, citing a Congressional Research Service memo.
Former president George H.W. Bush will get $942,000 next year, followed by Jimmy Carter at $456,000.
The allowances for an office and expenses and pension for Obama originated from a 1958 law, the Former Presidents Act, which provides for presidents when they leave office. It stemmed from Harry Truman's difficulty generating income, the Times reported.
