FWIW:

GIVE MONEY.

That is the big message that most relief professionals say.

Materials have to be stored, catalogued, sorted, and transported.

Money is vastly more flexible, as it lets organizations buy/do what they need most.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recommended that those who want to help victims should donate to the American Red Cross, which he called a “tremendous asset.” A number of other organizations at the national, state and local levels will provide vital assistance to residents in the coming days, weeks and months.

HHI Responds to Hurricane Harvey

Heart to Heart International had a disaster response team and mobile medical unit deploy from Kansas City on Friday, August 25th to arrive in Texas ahead of the storm Hurricane Harvey. Airbnb has set up an Urgent Accommodations page, allowing evacuees to find a place to stay for free with the help of those able to offer their space at no charge.

A few of us drove out this morning early to grab a buddies elderly parents. We were there all day in an upscale hood helping these people. Puts it into crazy perspective when you see how literally EVERYONE is ed out there. Sad day for us.

Good to hear they are ok. A lot of the elderly are going to need help cleaning out and gutting their "dry"wall. I will go in with my two boys once the situation stabilizes.
