McCain Just Exposed His Republican Colleague’s Shady Scheme To Undermine Russia Probe
But Senator McCain was not fooled by his Iowa colleague’s attempts to deflect su ion away from the real culprits in the Russia scandal, Trump and his inner circle.
He even went so far as to have his spokeswoman, Ms. Tarallo, point out a false claim in Grassley’s missive that suggested McCain had been warned of a similar Russian interference attempt during his own 2008 presidential run.
No one from McCain’s campaign team, “recalls receiving such warnings from the intelligence community.”
Ms. Tarallo went further:
‘Facts are stubborn things, and the fact is no member of Congress has done more to push back on Russian aggression, human rights abuses, and corruption than Senator John McCain,’ Tarallo said.
‘Any suggestion to the contrary is clearly intended to distract from the serious ongoing investigations into Russia’s interference in our election system.’
She doubled down on the Arizona senator’s support for Mueller’s investigation, thereby casting further doubt on Grassley’s obfuscations:
Senator McCain has high confidence in Special Counsel Mueller and our intelligence agencies, and trusts they will follow all of the facts surrounding Russia’s brazen attack on our election wherever they lead.
In making this statement, McCain and his team are sending a clear message to Trump and fellow Republicans that when it comes to treason, the Senator intends to put principles before party.
