Yes because trading for a glorified fat ass chucker is great deal.
It is when you get him for nothing and get rid of a known cancer (Kanter) in one fell swoop. Nowhere near as bad as begging a 37 year old scrub to opt out of his one contract so Buford could chase a ghost who only used the Spurs for leverage and never intended to sign with the them. And then to top it all off, he gives him a three year 48M deal that pays him through age 40 and s up the cap for the next three years. Kawhi must be so proud to have GM that cares/knows so little.

But, but, but...The Spurs were just being soooo classy by being loyal to a guy who has only played 64 games for them after shunning them a few years back for ing Chicago when he could actually contribute! He DESERVED a fat paycheck for only opting out of another for a few weeks while the Spurs went on a wild goose chase!

The funniest part of that was when fluffers were saying that loyalty to Gasol would be something future free agents would look at

"Spurs gave an old bag 48M that one year, that's a team I want to be a part of" - another old bag looking to get paid by fools

Can't wait until they give Green and Porker their new loyalty contracts then sign Vince Carter for 10 million per.

He seems to hate everyone and everything, including the NBA and all it's players. Why still watch or post here?*

The guy seems really troubled, tbh....

Can you give any examples of Kanter being a cancer on OKC? You are just making up with that allegation to sell your narrative. Kanter was a great sixth man off the bench for OKC the last 2 years. Kanter has a good offensive game and is a decent rebounder. His weakness was on the defensive end. OKC traded a young above average 7fter for a lazy fat ass that shoots horrible percentages and is even a worse defender. I don't see how that was a great deal but then again your stupid ass also believed the Grizzlies would beat the Spurs in the first round. We saw how that turned out.

I can see Melo's percentages going up when he's shooting wide open threes before the ultra quick feet of Fathead "Slomo" Anderson can reach him after Russ breaks down our 1-man defense, or Adams is slapping back offensive rebounds when LMA and/or Pau are tired by the 4th.

Meh. If Parker doesn't surprise everyone by going off, that series might look very different.

Thunder traded for a guy who had the same PER last year (17.9) and similar win shares per 48 (0.87 vs. 0.89), albeit on a higher usage rate (less efficient) than the guy the Spurs signed for the MLE. Not to mention Melo is two years older. If he buys into the Thunder, olympics Melo could be unleashed and be lethal. But don't underestimate what Gay brings to the table if (big if) he's fully healed.

I'm just more amazed at how little it cost them. Heck, I'd put Kanter's value at negative considering he eats $18mm in cap room next summer and literally can't play against the Rockets or Warriors ... though he was useful vs the Spurs. And McDermott hasn't panned out yet.

The Knicks couldn't have gotten an expiring contract instead? Guess none of Houston, OKC or Cleveland had them to move.

Adams is going to foul out so quickly now without Taj Gibson or Kanter around. Won't be around by Q4.

We're banking hard on a guy with a bad achilles...We can only hope is 100% next season. The Spurs really need a healthy Rudy.
