Spoiler alert.
Hopefully he worked on how to post up smaller players during the offseason.
I don't know if anyone has posted this tbh iirc but Aldridge is no long Fatridge
Spoiler alert.
Hopefully he worked on how to post up smaller players during the offseason.
He should be a little bit more comfortable with his role now. His first year, he was caught off guard by kawhi thinking he was going to be the GUY just like all the poor player evaluators in spurstalk.
His second year, it was an even bigger surpise with Leonard taking another huge stop step offensively.
It won't surprise me if Leonard would start looking for his shots even more this year and with the Addition of Rudy gay, you hope he responds positively instead of being soo moody.
Why do LMA and other players around the league wear those arm sleeves during interviews? I always thought they were there to protect from injury, like a sleeve over a knee brace on the leg. But why have it on in an interview? Does he have a tattoo that is somehow not NBA approved? Something with nudity, sex, political position, religiously offensive, etc? Or something with a trademarked image or logo that could be misread as an endorsement?
Wondered this for a long time.
Spurs need to work on getting him the ball early then. Their timing last season was awful and won't be fixed just by going at it more aggressively.
I had always assumed they were compression garments. It's possible you're right about banned images, but I also think it could just be part of LMA's "look", like his personal style.
Why is that though? They've had a couple of years to work on it and there's only been a marginal improvement from what I've seen. The post up plays just look so ing awkward on this team outside of Kawhi. It's like they're all surprised when it's someone else but Kawhi posting up. When Kawhi is out with an injury or something, they go to the post up game with Aldridge and it looks fine.
Kawhi is a great iso player, so his post-ups look fine. What I'm talking about aren't those plays but rather the ones where a guy posts-up as an option in a play. That timing is just abysmal. Go back and look how they used to post up with Diaw. Those passes were so on time that the ball was in the air before Boris has even crossed under the basket. That same play takes about two or three seconds longer nowadays, which means LMA is trying to fight a guy for position rather than just having a natural seal. I'd say that is on Aldridge, and indeed he deserves blame. But that timing affects everyone on the team.
Kawhi taking the high road on Zaza. Pure class.
Could be.
Yeah I agree with that, there always seems to be a waste of like 3 or 4 seconds of Aldridge trying to battle for position before the pass gets there. It just clogs everything up and kills whatever momentum and rhythm the team or play has. Then the timing is off when players need to cut. I don't even know how you fix that.
I agree too. But if we can see, surely the coaching staff and the team's guards (and Kawhi) who initiate the offense can see that too. And they watch thousands of hours more film than us and of course all practices. So, I wonder why its so hard to correct?
More interviews from ESPN site:

As far as I can see, it's just a matter of passing earlier and trusting LMA to seal and grab. It helps that they varied Motion Weak a lot more back then. They used the threat of the duck-in to get open threes or great PnRs. Nowadays, they usually just go for the post-up. That may be on LMA for not being willing to do other things. But Pop can't be blameless for calling the same option repeatedly.
Pop reveals Manu's true age.
And he is correct to laud LMA's defense.

Kawhi wearing a shooting-sleeve. NBA = ed tbh.
What's up with these new uni's looking cheap though? Look like Champion Brand replicas.
Did they really even have to reshoot that? Just cut in pics of Gay and the other newbies. Also, I thought Kawhi got rid of the corn rows
Brandon Paul is getting a ton of exposure for some reason.
They want it to include the new uni's tbh. And Kawhi never cut the cornrows, was just ty picture quality that fooled a bunch of people.
