Why does the NFL (or NBA) a private for profit enterprise play the national anthem before games, promote patriotism, have military tributes, soldier reunions, etc. etc. You know basically wrap themselves in the flag so to speak.

Tradition more than anything, I'd say. The players weren't even out on the field in primetime til 2009 because it the networks wanted it that way. The further flag wrapping with flyovers and military tributes are paid for by the government.

No that's not true. The message was getting a ton of coverage prior to Kaepernick's kneeling stunt. Obama should have come out and said "Dude chill I got the entire Justice Department all over this."
Kaepernick changed the topic to kneeling.

Divide and conquer. Most of you are clueless if you think all of this is about a race or color. This is about the top 1-10% vs everyone else--social class. They stick together by dividing everyone else. They get greater control while everyone else is arguing about race, flags, and anthems--and to all you cacs that support this garbage--these rich white elitist males wouldn't give you the crumbs that fall off their tables.
If it's bigger but diluted I'm not sure it's a bad thing.
