They have to do something... just about every scene/line of dialogue for season 7 was online months before it aired. It must be difficult though to keep things secret with crews shooting all over the globe.

Just binged Season 7 over the past week.
Why was John also named Aegon? Wasn't there already an Aegon who got killed during Robert's rebellion?
Yes... He was Rhaegar's first son, killed by The Mountain. It's not really clear why that's Jon's name also other than the fact that it was an extremely popular name throughout Targaryen history and Lyanna probably had to chose the name on her own.
It's also possible Rhaegar wanted both of his sons to be named after Aegon the Conqueror, as he was obsessed with the prince that was promised prophecy.

too many details, its crazy
?
Has any season 8 script leaked?
Someone supposedly leaked season 8 details on Reddit. The general consensus is they are fake though.

Sooner than I thought. Can't believe it has been almost two years.
Restarted the series from Episode 1 last week. Watching 5 episodes a week should carry me straight to the season premiere just as I finish season 7. I've already noticed more than a handful of little hints & details that I had either forgotten were there or simply overlooked while watching season 1 for the first time 7 years ago.
my sister and bro in law hadn't watched the show, and all our cousins convinced them to get on the train in time for season 8. we all had a viewing party for ep 1 (and have had one for episode 9 of every season... just watched blackwater yesterday). i gotta say on a second watch-through you just catch everything. every little piece of conversation makes sense. helps that you're not overwhelmed by having to learn all the characters at the same time. also throughout the show the backstory/lore is dropped one hint at a time, and after having seen the whole show, you have a pretty good picture of it, so when you hear one guy mention a small tidbit and you know the whole story, its much more meaningful.
I had read all the books a couple of times before the show started, it was interesting to see what they skipped, included, and/or added as it went on. The last season felt pretty rushed but I was still entertained.
The books on the show tbh, but the books may never get finished either. GRRM fat ass probably gonna die of a heart attack before finishing the series.
The show was great for awhile, it got increasingly ty the last few seasons, it makes sense though as they didnt have fatties source material to pull from anymore.
they still consulted with fatty to get his idea of how he thinks the story will end
some of the specifics (the plot to capture a wight) may or may not have been from fatty himself, though
Don't remember the season but the Dorne arc almost ruined the entire show for me. What a fest that was. They ed it up bad.
Dorne arc was one of my favorites in the book. They really ed it up with the bad pussy , a god damn shame
i chose not to nitpick and just enjoy a decently done fantasy show tbh. Martin's stuff was fairly unique when it came out but several other series are way better.
Agreed on the bolded part. Joe Abercrombies First Law series is much better than ASoIAF imo. If you haven't read it I would highly recommend it.
Honestly it isn't nitpicking with the last few seasons. They have been pretty poorly done and are riding off the success of the previous seasons.
That series has been on my tbr list for a while now. Hoping to squeeze it in sometime this year but we'll see.
I've never actually read the first two books of ASoIAF. I didn't even know that the show was based on books until after I started watching the show a week after season 2 ended. Went to B&N immediately after the s2 finale to pick up books 3, 4 & 5 and blistered through them within a couple weeks. Considering that was nearly 7 years ago my memory on the finer details of the books is pretty hazy right now.
Cool, I will check it out. My favorite is Robin Hobb's Realm Of the Elderlings series. The Rain Wilds portion is slow, but the rest are fantastic. I've reread them several times.
Tbh season 5 is when the show went off the rails and that had nothing to do with not having Martin's source material. They tried to streamline two long books into one 10 episode season and it didn't work. The Dorne arc being the worst offender. Season 6 was ing good though I thought. And season 7 was just way too rushed, and that capturing a zombie storyline was asinine.
Same. But I stuck with it, and the show redeemed itself.
That short-haired one with the "Bad pussy" was hot AF, you gotta admit
Agreed, but it makes it more palatable if you accept season 7 as being a crowd pleaser. So much build up for so many years, we're finally getting what we wanted.
It’s a pretty quick read. I don’t remember any of the books being to lengthy, only 3 books in the series. Most importantly the series is already finished, no need to wait 10 years for the next book in the series.
