Lots of people, like me, don't even have Facebook accounts.
It is entirely possible (and very easy) for a foreign country to target messages to specific audiences on Facebook's ad platform without having any personal data on any American citizen. Facebook has almost all the data they could possibly need built into their own system.

75% of adults who have the internet use Facebook. It is the absolute #1 platform to target online advertising. Google is #2, and there's really nothing else in the same stratosphere.
I mentioned nothing about Hillary. Are you okay with a foreign power looking to influence an election by targeting US citizens with personal information acquired by a data firm?

I understand that. Dude was laughing at Face book ads being why those states swung to Trump and dude circled back. He didn't challenge dude's mockery of the charge, he passed along a question he had asked someone else.

Why does it matter who created the ads? Do you trust the US government? Are you ok with the uber elite targeting you daily with ads customized from personal information they glean from tracking your web activity and the "data breech" events?
How is it any different for an American to post half truths and even outright lies in ads and for a foreign country to do so? Weren't we all foreigner friendly just recently? So they can pile in here illegally and take our tax money as long as they don't buy ad space on Facebook? Is that it?

It is absolutely worth investigating how a foreign adversary was able to influence public opinion during an election, regardless of who won and regardless of whether there was active involvement by Americans in their efforts. I don't know how anyone who claims to care about this country can believe otherwise.
