Murray stealing the ball and throwing it down hard. Nice...
And we won't see Murray for the next 3 games because of "showboating".

    compare that with Bertie.

Too difficult to complain about a game in which the Spurs were on fire. I thought Manu showed his age. This one needs to be his last season tbh.
Anyways. What a beatdown. Spurs shot almost 60% from 3. That's just unreal. Again, preseason game. Going to shelve it.

One wonders how Pop is going to play all these guards. ah well. at least he won't have to over-rely on the old guards is what I am hoping.

Spurs are loaded with depth of 3-point shooting and secondary ball handlers. When one or some of the top 8 is out, they could actually get more explosive, just by some combination of Bertans, Forbes, Paul or White, having an increased role . . . too bad they don't have an above average table setter.

Still, wouldn't be surprised if they have, if not their best, at least most aesthetically pleasing offense since '14.

It hasn't looked the same when Pau and LMA share the court. They are together too slow and these guys thrive playing super fast. It was a fun game and everyone got enough shots to get in rhyhtm too, an underrated aspect of playing fast.

    PTR's Observations of the game:

    https://www.poundingtherock.com/2017...uggets-122-100

    • Rudy Gay seems to be gelling. Known for forcing looks during his days in Memphis and Sacramento, it was promising to see the 11 year veteran play within the offense Sunday afternoon. It's been a small sample size, but I'm very intrigued by what #22 could bring to the table this season.
    • It was refreshing to see a confident Bryan Forbes on the floor. The second year sharpshooter was plagued by a severe cold streak shooting the ball in the NBA last season, which significantly hampered him. It will be very interesting to see if he can play his way into a supporting role early in the year while Parker is rehabbing.
    • It looks like Bertans has put in some work this summer. The lativian sharpshooter clearly put a lot of focus on putting the ball on the ground this offseason. It didn't quite show on the stat sheet today, but you can tell he is much more comfortable being chased off of the 3 point line, as there were a couple of possessions in the first half which saw the big man pump fake and get to the rim. Oh, and that shooting stroke of his didn’t disappear over the 5 month hiatus either. The 6’10 sniper went 2-3 from deep Sunday afternoon.
    • Murray is continuing to grow as a point guard. The 20 year old out of Washington appears to be focusing on running the offense this preseason rather than his lay making ability that he flashed in the conference finals last year. It appears that Pop and his staff want to develop the young guard’s game slowly after thrusting him into action late in the playoffs last season.

Well, this team is going to rip a lot of wins off because it's just a far better system than most teams'. It's just a bad league right now. I see 55 wins at least.

None of this means anything until Kawhi gets back. How his game fits with a free-flowing offense will determine the team's success on that end. It's really easy for LMA to look great in against pre-season D and with him getting the ball every time down the court. We don't know how he'll react to going back to the second option.
