President Donald Trump on Wednesday reportedly sent a $25,000 gift to the father of an Army corporal killed in Afghanistan June 10 — making good on a promise made to the Gold Star family in a phone call.
Chris Baldridge, the father of 22-year-old fallen Army Cpl. Dillon Baldridge, of Zebulon, N.C., told The Washington Post he appreciated the president's call and cash offer after his son’s death.
"I could not believe he was saying that, and I wish I had it recorded because the man did say this," Baldridge told the Post. "He said, ‘No other president has ever done something like this,’ but he said, ‘I’m going to do it.'"

I feel terrible for this family but raising money for the children's college expenses is not entirely necessary. Because the soldier was killed in the line of duty, the children's college expenses are taken care of through the Post 9/11 GI Bill and the Frey Scholarship. I'm sure the military HR department (not sure what the Army calls it) will be advising them of their benefits.

They shouldn't need a go fund me account SGLI should take care of them unless he did not opt for any coverage the life insurance will pay a minimum of $250k. Her survivors benefits will last a lifetime as long as she does not get re-married.
