John Kelly essentially and unintentionally threw Trump under the bus by saying that he told him to use those words. Trump said that he didn't use those words at all.
He blasted Wilson for listening in on the call but she was in the car with the widow and the call was on speakerphone. Wilson knew Johnson and his family for years.

But it's telling that the story significant enough to you that you'll use an example from April of the President performing normal Presidential duties in order to try to deflect the controversy. I'm not sure what personal attachment you have to this or the countless other times Trump has been criticized. It's like a blow horn calling you to duty in service of someone you claim to disagree with.
