It's something I asked about and I have wondered about. Why has Davis Bertans not seen playing time. I have my own theories but really nothing significant to go on, until I saw this:

Although he has not been listed as out, and likely could have played if needed (he's been in uniform), he has had that finger he injured in Euroleague wrapped up. He didn't shoot well in preaseason and my guess is that he wasn't lighting up training camp either, since Pop has gone to Bryn Forbes, who did well in training camp and preseason with his shooting, when he felt he wanted more 3 pt shooting in the bench. It's a possibility his injury has affected his accuracy some and to the extent Bertans is not going to be an accurate 3 pt shooter due to that injury, he doesn't help you win games. It's something I didn't know until I saw this article.Bertans under wraps: Second-year forward Davis Bertans opened the season out of Popovich’s rotation, totaling four minutes in the Spurs’ first two games entering Monday.
He has also been playing with a wrap on his right pinkie finger to stabilize a ligament injury he suffered during international play over the summer.

The 24-year-old Latvian played with the finger taped throughout the preseason, and shot 7 of 32 during the five-game exhibition slate.
How convenient that the wrapping on that finger is scheduled to come off this Friday, now that Joff is injured? So I am expecting Davis to get some playing time and his shooting to trend back up when that wrap comes off.

All kidding aside, I knew he was missing part of a finger and since it is the finger right next to the partial finger that is injured, that would have to have some impact on shooting. All of it on his right (shooting hand). Nice find SAGirl.

Thanks for posting his injury SA I new something was up he wasn’t playing like we thought he could. It’s nice to know there is still hope for this kid get healthy and soon.
