When Kawhi leaves, the money will be there
At least Green contributed with defense when his shot wasn't falling.
Meanwhile, Mills now makes more than Green.
What kind of loyalty deal is Green going to get now?
4/80?
When Kawhi leaves, the money will be there
What Mills said is 100% true.
We all know he's been on a discounted deal in the past...
The Spurs didn't give him this deal and say OK YOURE NOW THE STARTER..OR YOU BETTER WIN 6TH MAN..
The Spurs want Mills to keep being the player he was and not view the $$ as some bar he has to reach..so no there isn't more pressure.
All that "pressure/contract" mess comes from fans and the media. We felt he has to prove to us Mills coming back is worth the deal yet completely ignoring the play he gave us making 3M per. Yes he's been ting the bed and has been disappointing but to think he doesn't care is BS.
So yeah again just like the "inmates" comment...wrong time to say it but let's don't pretend we don't know what that mean or hold Mills to this higher standard all of a sudden...let's not manipulate the agenda
I appreciate the explanation as to what you meant.
Any alleged agenda manipulation ought to come from the press and Mills himself then. he was the one who used the words he used and I provided the context of the article in exact quotes. The press highlights how awful he's been and the Spurs hoping their belief in him pays off. So it's nice that he feels secure about his future and that is fine but he ought to choose his words carefully then. I would have preferred to hear some kind of remorse over his bad games and desire to do better than what he said.
If he was playing well, the contract would be a blip. You just call it market price and move on. Spurs just need Patty to make shots right now.
I'm sure he was asked if there's more pressure due to contract...which proves my point that criteria comes from the media and sometimes fans..
Now regarding the "agenda" fans have been ing about his play and the contract makes it 10x worst.."What's wrong with Mills??" Is a frequent question being asked.. but with Mills saying what he said people are just "ASSUMING" his play is due to him not caring anymore and since he got paid etc...that's BS and unfair to a limited role player like Mills.
I think it's ed up to take what Mills says to fit the "I'm fat, I don't care, I'm rich" agenda..
Just like taking what McNair said and spew that to prove the "racist owner agenda"...
Fathead needs to stop starting. ing cancer team high -15.![]()
the first person to mention agenda is you.
I am taking that contract at face value. not the proper choice of words after getting paid a big market price compared to what similar or even better guards than him got, and the one you will cite like JJRed was a special one year overpayment due to that franchise's payroll and young personnel. (might be a better player too, has been a starter in the league for several years, mills has not. That matters). I doubt Mills would have gotten anything similar to what the Spurs gave anywhere else and they did choose to re-sign him over any other potential guards that were available. So he got paid and now he has to take some heat. I do expect more out of him than I do Anderson, Bertans, Dijon, White, BP3 etc. bc those guys are still trying to find a role in the league and they are neither featured nor got paid 50 mills. It is what it is. If you expect ppl to not complain you are in the wrong forum sir.
No the agenda is using Mills comments to jusity why he's playing like crap. Like his comments have confirmed his reason of ty play.. You're gonna pretend what he said isn't true?? And if you admit it's true then what's the problem?
Just like McNairs comments as well..we've all heard that saying before. It's a proven true statement when running a businesses. But since what's going on in the culture of the NFL it's manipulated to fit the "racist owner agenda".
Was it ty timing for both? Yes.
But doesn't t mean what was said isn't accurate
Yea, some will definitely take it out of context and overreact, especially some of the kiddies on this site.
wow, what a lack of situational awareness to say something like that. The good news is Kawhi will be coming back home at some point

That "no pressure to perform" comment is appalling...Explains a lot.
This is too good to be true..
How about that wholesome culture Mills was supposed to sustain by being brought back on an albatross deal? How in' about it, PATFO?
Explains what exactly???
Mills role hasn't changed....he's not expected to win 6th man and Spurs aren't expecting him to start.
It doesn't excuse his ty play but what exactly does it explain?
One cannot question Patty's heart, like him or not, dude always played 100%... he obviously did not mean that now he can take holidays. He is having a rough start sure but it's still very early into the season to draw any conclusion. He obviously was very stressed about his future contract, he laid back certainly a bit not on purpose obviously... the first annoyed by his recent perf is of course himself, I believe he will put his back together rather sooner than later.
Motivation has never been an issue with Patty I don't see why it would become one now...
Dude was known as Fatty Mills from Pop himself... let's not pretend he didn't pack on like 10 pounds of maybe too much barbie... Hopefully dude snaps right back tbh... all one can ask for at this point.
I don't say dude did not go a bit easy after his contract signature, it happens all the time for almost all the players except for the greats like Kawhi, Tim, Tony, Manu... but his motivation has never been an issue with him... I think he deserves the benefits of the doubt. fwiw imho
Lol better player
What has he done to deserve the benefits of the doubt?
He's been the most overrated player on this board because of how people fell in love with his excessive towel waiving, accent and the type of PERSON he is ( nothing to do with him as a player on the court when it matters).
Exactly what I've been saying for 2 years. Pop never would have re-signed that type of player back in the early to mid 2000s. He would have sent them on their way.
Question of OP is about motivation, you can think whatever you want about his talent or level of play. In terms of motivation he deserves all the benefits of the doubt because he showed over and over he is dedicated to the team, root for all the guys to do well and give it all during the games.
Dedicated to the team? How? By robbing them of $50MM?
Should've trade Patty plus Kyle when we had the change to Rubio. Rubio who's being known as a terrible shooter, shoots better this season compared to a known shooter Patty.
robbing them ?I guess you are the kind of guy that works for a company and tell your boss... well I think the salary you are offering is way too high smh
Yes, robbing them. As in not producing commensurate with what he’s been paid.
Only a European would support a completely underperforming POS by trying to make it seem like only the dumb would want to work hard and earn their keep.
