Most of the rather naked advancements in police power have come under conservatives in recent years. Dems have gone right along with a lot of these erosions, to their/our shame.

Yes, Jesus is much more peaceful, he was, essentially, written that way by the Romans, who needed Jews to stop having messiahs cropping up ever few years to rebel against Rome. I think they picked one that had already died, and pretty much created the thing out of whole cloth. That makes all the "fulfilled prophecies" rather easy to explain.

Personally, I don't believe this. In terms of science rinsing out religion. Because this also implies that science yields reality. In my view, science is a very powerful tool to predict outcomes, but at the same time leading to questions even more difficult than before that make it hard to even define reality. A very fallible human activity, but very useful.
