How can I prefer he resign and think he should not resign at the same time?
Took you an hour to think that one up.
Preferring someone resigns does not answer should or should not resign. It just means you have a preference for the resignation.
If you said he should resign it would presumably be for moral reasons and/or that you think it's prudent to do so. Stating that you prefer he resigned is not outright inclined to lend itself to such reasoning. In fact, your preference could be based upon something quite flimsy or next to nothing at all.
Should is obviously more forceful language than prefer. As such it lends itself to a mandate. There could be 35 percent that prefer Trump resigned and yet only 15 percent that would say he should resign. Or do you think that such discrepancies would not be likely because you seem to be arguing that prefer and should carry the same weight?
And to answer the question more directly. It would be awkward for someone to say he preferred for someone to resign and then say that person should not resign. However, one could say he preferred someone resigned but not affirmatively answer that someone should resign (as in the above example). So, your argument does not negate that reality. It was a nice little pretzel fallacy you tried there, though.
You didn't answer the question.
How can I prefer Franken resign and think Franken should not resign?
Doing your semantics again. I adequately responded, basically calling the implication of your question fallacious.
I have long considered Al Franken to be a grade b deuche. But I write-off or otherwise mitigate most or all of these recently revealed misdeeds to cultural reality or pitfalls. Basically, no harm, no foul to oversimply / overstate it. That and his misdeeds are fairly benign, tbh. I know trumped up sexual misdeeds are en vogue; but we're humans at the end of the day. We aren't saints, most of us.
Thats a lot of work for no payoff
I'm sure it does look like a lot of work to a dimwit lik you.![]()

Juanita Broaddrick Expresses Doubts On Trump Accusers
Juanita Broaddrick, the former Arkansas nursing home operator who accused Bill Clinton of rape, is
not so sure she believes the sixteen women who have accused Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.
"I don't think it's ever too late to say you believe me," Broaddrick tells Newsweek.
"But the coming days and months will tell us if they're sincere."
Of course,
Broaddrick has told two completely different stories about her alleged encounter with Mr. Clinton.
In a sworn 1997 deposition, Broaddrick said that her two-decade old rape allegation was false.
"These allegations are untrue and there is no truth to these rumors," Broaddrick testified at the time.
A year later, when President Clinton faced impeachment, Broaddrick told special prosecutor Ken Starr "that her Jones testimony was false, but that she had been under absolutely no pressure from the president or the White House to file a false affidavit,"

Franken Could Resign On Thursday
“I expect that Senator Franken will announce his resignation tomorrow"
Amidst scores of Democrats now calling for his resignation, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) may resign from office as early as Thursday.
Speaking with the Associated Press, Franken has scheduled an announcement for Thursday. His office has not specified the subject, but Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) believes it will be his resignation.
“I expect that Senator Franken will announce his resignation tomorrow," Senator Wyden tweeted.
This bombs comes as a result of several Democratic women now calling for his head based on what now cons ute seven accusations of sexual harassment.
“I’m shocked and appalled by Sen. Franken’s behavior,” said Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash). “It’s clear to me that this has been a deeply harmful, persistent problem and a clear pattern over a long period of time. It’s time for him to step aside.”
“Obviously, there were new allegations today, and enough is enough,” said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y). “We need to draw a line in the sand and say none of it is OK, none of it is acceptable and we, as elected leaders, should absolutely be held to a higher standard.”
Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has made no comment while Minority Whip Durbin (D-Ill.), has called on him to step down.
The calls for a resignation were a dramatic shift from just three days ago, when as many as 136 women signed a letter publicly backing him:
We are longtime supporters of Senator Franken, and our support is rooted in the core values that we share. During his time in the Senate, he has been a champion for these values and a steadfast supporter of women’s rights. While we are disappointed by these allegations, we appreciate that he has apologized and is committed to regaining the trust of Minnesotans. We believe a Senate investigation into these allegations is the appropriate course of action and will continue to support the Senator throughout this process.
As Ben Shapiro has stated, Democrats shifting positions on Franken means they've regained the moral high ground on sexual harassment in light of the GOP's backing of Roy Moore.
