If the coaching staff doesn't want Leonard to make the trip then he may suit up until the day after Christmas against the Nets.

Coaching staff likely sees the Mavericks games as motivating for LMA so maybe that's why you would sit Kawhi out for those matchups. A motivated Aldridge plus Leonard (with Kyle, Danny, and Gasol playing as well as they are) would be enough to challenge anyone.
