Spoiled Spurfan tbh. I will never say Pop is perfect but he's one of the greatest of all time to do it. I feel for y'all who expect him to be perfect or not coach to your standards....

he's not available though, so not a realistic answer. if we fired pop this past summer, who would you have chosen to replace him?

I didn't say anything about firing Pop last summer. And that wasn't your question. I think he's one of the better coaches in the league. But I'd get rid of him for Carlisle if the opportunity was there.

Who coaches are a "realistic answer"?

If people say Carlisle you say he's not available, if I say Brad Stevens you will say the same...

People want the best coaches for their favorite teams, Carlisle and Stevens are the best in the league not named Popovich.

So better make your list of "available" "realistic" or just shut up and let people choose the coach they want.

yeah but thats like saying "i dont like parker, so lets get rid of him and bring in curry" or "gasol is really a drag, lets replace him with embiid"

your replacement has to actually be feasible or else you're just whining...

I don't want Pop fired or for him to retire, just want him to make better lineup decisions. Too often the past four seasons has he sunk the Spurs in playoff games with poor in-game decision making. Would help if he had a Bud/Brown who wouldn't just act as yes-men to Pop like the current assistants do.

I don't want to get rid of him, but I also don't think the Spurs will be ed when he retires, especially if he stays around in a Riley capacity to help guide his successor. That's the thing: We don't have to know who will replace Pop to consider whether the Spurs would be better off with a new coach. Someone like Messina (whom I've warmed up to but am still not too keen on) and Udoka could run much of the same schemes, be able to maintain much of the Spurs culture but then have ideas on how to use personnel that Pop either doesn't have or wouldn't allow. Going from Riley to Spoelstra almost certainly seemed like a major downgrade, but Spo has proven to be a very good coach who's managed to win with both a super team and exceed expectations with a mediocre roster. I do feel pretty confident that the Spurs' next coach will be of similar quality.

You think that was the case last season tho? Feels like more times than not he pushes the right button. Of course he has some years/series where there were things he could've done better/differently. But compare that to other organizations/coaches and we don't have it as bad as many here (not saying you) think
