According to a new Gallup poll, Bill and Hillary Clinton stink with the American public.
Bill Clinton’s poll numbers have sagged to their lowest level since 2001, just after he left office, and Hillary Clinton’s numbers have reached the nadir, the lowest level Gallup has ever recorded for her.
Only 36% of respondents approved of Hillary, with a whopping 61% disapproving. Her previous low came last year at 38% and in 1992, before many people knew who she was. Hillary’s poll numbers have dropped 5% since June. Oddly, Hillary’s peak came in a December 1998 poll just after the House of Representatives voted to impeach her husband; she reached an approval rating of 67%.
Gallup noted:
At times when she assumed a more overtly political role -- during attempts to reform healthcare in 1994, in her years as a U.S. senator, and during her 2007-2008 and 2015-2016 campaigns for president, her ratings suffered. Her favorable ratings were near 50% when she announced her second bid for the presidency in the spring of 2015, but fell in the summer of 2015 amid controversy over her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.
Hillary had a 51% favorable rating among independents when she started her 2016 presidential campaign, but only 27% of them now view her favorably.
Bill Clinton’s numbers have dropped to 45% among those who rate him favorably while 52% see him unfavorably. The last time his numbers were this low was March 2001, when only 39% of respondents viewed him favorably. In all likelihood his numbers have plunged since sexual harassment has become central in the current political dialogue.
