Didn't want to mention it, but if he did pick blOwU or Aggie, I'm not losing sleep over it.

He is only 5'11, now I'm not too worried about height since it's a poor measurable for how a player will perform, but it is also a limiting factor in his development. I know, this sounds like sour grapes, but I was all in on wanting White right up un, til he measured in at the Army game.

BTW, he isn't the only one, I'm confident now that Angilau is a guard only for the same reason. 6'4 frame and very short arms equals too limiting for being an effective tackle.
Looking good at OG so far.....too bad the west isn't calling many running plays, but at least we get to see some of his pass protection skills.

E.J. Holland: Five takeaways from the Army Bowl

    1. Sterns wins MVP — Four-star Cibolo Steele safety Caden Sterns was the best player on the field today as he was named the game’s Most Valuable Player and helped lead the West to a 17-16 victory over the East. Sterns is a field general in the secondary and has the football IQ to call plays from the back end in the future for the Longhorns. Sterns has elite instincts and a nose for the football. There was some talk about him making the transition to cornerback, but his best fit is as a free safety, where he’ll be allowed to truly use the abilities that make him a top recruit.

    2. Rest of DB group — Texas cornerback signee Anthony Cook played mostly off man today. He is at his best when allowed to come up, be physical and press. He did give up a catch late but had solid coverage for most of the day. Fellow cornerback signee Jalen Green didn’t see many balls thrown his way. He did have a couple of open field tackles and did a great job saving a touchdown as he ran down an East player from behind. Green obviously had a rough day as a returner but probably won’t be asked to do that at Texas.

    3. Thoughts on Angilau — It was a bit of a struggle for Texas offensive line signee Junior Angilau today. While the four-star prospect is a mauler in run blocking, he really struggled in pass blocking. Angilau had a rough time when facing a bull rush and did not show quick feet. He also plays too high and doesn’t know how to leverage. Simply put, he has a lot of work to do in that area. It is still unclear if he will arrive in Austin this summer or take his two-year mission trip.

    4. Waddle impresses — The West quarterbacks struggled today as they faced constant pressure, but four-star Houston Bellaire Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Waddle still found a way to make a big impact on the game. Waddle stretched the defense with his elite speed as he notched a 46-yard reception in the first quarter. He also scored a short touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the West ahead for good. Texas obviously has a big need at slot, and Waddle is top priority heading into the late period.

    5. Quiet day — As mentioned, the West had some issues protecting their quarterbacks, and the passing game suffered tremendously. Four-star Texas signee Brennan Eagles finished without a catch and was targeted just twice. Eagles showed more fluidity during practice this week and the potential to be more than just a go route receiver. But he still has to continue to add strength, improve his route running and play with more physicality. Eagles certainly has high upside but might need time to develop.

We talked about this guy recently as a potential grad transfer OL.

He's officially leaving Rice and from Austin.

Not surprising Major had his own issues with workplace misconduct why he can no longer coach at UT. He's willing to risk it all to upgrade UH.

Is he going to the NFL or another program? I'm really hoping he picks Texas as he would be an almost instant starter here. If he does pick Texas I'll officially stop worrying about depth on our oline.

We still need a class of 5 or 6 out of the 2019 class

No big deal, remember Major and Briles were teammates at Texas, Briles is a grad from U of H so it makes sense. I don't know what Briles knew about what was happening at Baylor while it was going on, but it is Major's career so if he wants to flush it, he is more than welcome to do so.

None of those guys will set foot again on the 40 acres so they can all pound sand.

Aggsy board is reporting that White pulled the trigger to blOwU on his twitter account.

I may regret this, but better blOwU than Texas. I’m just not sold on any linebacker that is 5’11 I just don’t think he has the tools to be effective on the next level.

Now I say this but the best high school linebacker I ever personally watched / played against was Dennis Kennedy of Judson. He was a man among boys, he was also about 5’11 so I might be the one lamenting us not getting him, but I still stand by what I said.

Check out his junior film as I've read it wasn't good and he had a long way to go.

He'll visit Arkansas soon since he loves Chavis.

    Eric Nahlin's Recruiting Q&A

Q: Who does Texas close out with in this recruiting class?

Can’t answer that because they don’t really lead for anyone. It would take a terrible act of homerness to even come up with one.

Q: What’s the outlook with Ossai now that A&M has hired Elko? Does he have a timeline for shutting things down?

It depends on if they keep Terry Price. Been saying that since October/November.

Q: Flat out percentage on someone other than Tim Beck being OC in 2018?

As I said I think someone will be hired that is the play caller but don’t know for sure. 55-60% and subject to be revised.

Q: Waddle, is he a pipe dream at this point? White is done from what we're hearing but if you were a betting man...do we get Ossai at this point?

They’ll make one more hard push for Waddle while still working on guys like Lawrence Keys. He isn’t likely but I bet he at least takes an unofficial visit.

Q: I was not able to watch the game today. Beside Sterns, who I gather had 2 picks and was MVP (NICE), how did the UT commits look?

Green was the other standout to me. Had some PBU, showed to be physical, made a great pursuit tackle.

Q: You once said there's a small handful of high school players you've watched that stood out as players you knew would be high-level contributors at the next level and beyond. You said Malik was one, Jamal Adams was another, and some others I can't remember. Whether Texas bound or not, do you see any of those in the 2018 or 2019 class?

Both of those guys I had #1. Waddle and Green would be the closest to that but neither give me the confidence Jamal or Malik did. Walker Little was probably in that group.

Q: I tried asking this in the prospects thread before the menstruation started, but is there any reason it's presumed that Hobbs couldn't play inside?

The #1 reason is we haven’t seen it. It’s not really a place for lankier/narrower guys. It’s tough to hold up versus the run. Maybe he’d be a solid blitzer from Mac or Rover. His projection screams edge to me.

Q: What are the chances that Herman calls plays in 2018?

Probably depends on who he hires. If he makes no changes and they have continued injuries on the OL then there would be a chance.

Q: Looks like we’re only gonna end with 21 for 2018 class.

    Ha ha ha.

Q: Has Texas shown any interest in Chad Bailey. Seems to be pretty athletic with good size.

They signed that type of player out of Missouri.

Q: Is there anyone out there, Bailey or otherwise, that you think is worthy of pursuit at ILB with White going Gooner?

Not in-state.Maybe Jacoby Simpson but like Bailey he’s too similar to Adeoye to me. They’ll stay on White until he’s signed.

Q: Top ten prospects most likely to end up in Texas' 2019 class?

You know with this landscape it’s entirely too early for that. We’ll get a better idea after junior days. An example is Texas is in it for Kenyon Green but it’s entirely too early to predict him anywhere with conviction. Guys who are natural Texas kids or I see as the school having a good shot with.

S Brian Williams (‘18 safety class hurts a bit)
    WR Arjei Henderson (long play)
    WR Jordan Whittington
    OL Tyler Johnson
    LB/DE NaNa Osafo-Mensah
    OL EJNO
    WR Garrett Wilson
    DL DeMarvin Leal
    S Demani Richardson
    WR Dylan Wright
    OL Branson Bragg

Not making flat out predictions but UT is in great spots with these guys. Things will begin to crystallize over the next couple months.

Q: Do you think Waddle will come to Austin for an unofficial visit? Heard from another site that he had said "probably A&M" when questioned where he would end up. Thanks.

I’ve heard “probably A&M” too. He told my friend in Houston that. I think he might visit. I know Texas will visit him to try and get him on campus.

Q: So what's the plan in taking 2 b backers? Ossai could play DL right?

    He could be a DE.

Q: Have you heard of any grad transfer wanting to come to Texas?

A couple OL looking at UT. Should get a visit soon from one of them. Not putting his name out because I’m not sure his school knows.

Q: Are we actually going to whiff on everyone of our remaining uncommitted targets?

That wouldn’t be the probability would it?

    Q: [Rice OL tweet]

Ha ha, well there’s one of the OL.This dude is brilliant too. Probably no trouble finding him a graduate path.

Q: I don’t mean this to sound redundant, but will Beck be working with the QBs next season? I’m hoping Herman looks for a play caller that also works with the QBs.

Based on what I’ve said it’s clear I don’t know this answer. Not even sure Herman does as of now.

Q: I’ve seen some murmur elsewhere of Todd Dodge being added. Any truth to that or nay?

Haven’t heard it. Sure is an easy guess for someone to make, though. If you want to keep Shane around that’s not a hire you make, I wouldn’t think.

Q: An OC not calling plays sounds like a cluster. You can't want both continuity and strip them of the primary rolls of that position. If he stays, he calls plays. If he is not trusted to call plays, he should go.

Fans get caught up on les. All that matters is everyone knows their role behind the scene.

Q: Do we still have an in home with White? Will he let us take it?

Herman used his. Orlando can make one. Don’t know if he’ll still take calls but I suspect he will. I’m not even certain White is dropping before the end of the dead period.

Q: What has more to do with the lack of recruiting momentum right now to finish out this 2018 class? Season, reports of dissension, late offers? A combo of all three?

All three, plus with having so many targets in the boat before the season they didn’t have a lot of momentum to manufacture.

Q: Should we be waiting after the convention for a new OC or could a signing come at any point?

I don’t think a new coach or 10th assistant is coming in the next couple days.

    He's in limbo, I guess.

He's no longer the A&M defensive coordinator, but he hasn't been hired by Arkansas yet.
