When Kylo had his mask on early on in TFA, he carried more weight as a bad guy and was working his way to becoming a great villain. As soon as the mask came off, he lost all intimidation.

As has been said, You're only as good as your villain.. It's why so many Marvel movies are just meh.

They are trying to be too cute with Kylo and make his more story complicated than it needs to be. And they just killed off Snoke so who knows where this story is going. The writers don't even know and it shows.

I don't know how I feel about the movie tbh. It was okay. Not as different as some make it out to be. I felt it pretty straight forward with a lot of the same story elements from ESB and ROTJ. The only part that surprised me was that they killed Snoke so quickly, which makes me think he isn't really dead.

Kylo Ren is confusing the out of me though. He's the opposite of Anikan in that he's dark side struggling with his light side. But when you think he's finally given in (when he kills Snoke), he goes full on bag. Otherwise, I like the idea that balance lies in the middle, and that dark and light are going to have to come together.

Hes definitely the most interesting part of the movie.

The problem is he's only in about a quarter of the movie. As others have said, half the movie wasn't just boring, it was stupid.

I think the mask helped the actor more than his character. Adam Driver looks like an emo kid in perpetuity.
