Not a fan of the quota method of representation. I like female protagonists well enough. Think it's odd that all four of the new Disney ST protags are female
Disney used to use that formula in the past. They kept it true to human nature and they were successful. Now they want to inject sjw political propaganda into every movie they make and it just looks forced. People go to movies to escape the hardships of work and life. The last thing they want to see is politics and propaganda in a movie.
Hollywood has inverted the role of the sexes. Women are now the men and men are the women( or s).

Oh so it’s all make-believe? Interesting.
imagine the level of needle- ed insecurity to be triggered at seeing a woman occasionally do things a man usually does.
The Disney Princess line sells.
I don't know if you're a minority, but if you're not, I can tell you that there's a difference between natural diversity and hamfisted diversity. There are great examples of female protagonists both taking traditional male roles and operating in traditional roles. There are even people who do both like Essun in Broken Earth, who on one hand is a bad ass earth-shifter and on the other is just a mother trying to find her daughter during an apocalypse. I am not trying to defend Spurt's obsession with hating this movie. But I think Disney could stand to just go with a better mixed representation rather than trying to right wrongs from the Lucas era.
As far as these new ST females go, I like Rey quite a bit, think Jin is interesting, can't stand Iden and think Holdo is a wasted opportunity.
For the males: I like Finn but wish they have him something to excel at. Poe is a waste of space. Cassian was a poor attempt to recapture the Han "magic". And Del ended up being a worthless moon to Iden's already ty sun.
EDIT: And apparently I'm like the only person who actually liked Rose.
Yeah, all of Disney's great war movies always reserved superpowers and laser sword fights for the menfolk -- which was true to human nature.
TLJ has made over a billion dollars and is still in wide release. You can argue the quality, but you can't argue its success.
It boggles my mind how big toy sales still are.
I am.
I am.
You must have loved White Khan in that Star Trek movie then.
I can’t wait for all the autistic screeching at Black Panther.
I don't care for Star Trek one way or the other. I don't even know what the "original" Khan looked like.
Not a fan of Michael B Jordan, tbh. In general I'm pretty burned out on Marvel. Haven't seen anything since Civil War and probably only have enough interest to get through Infinity Wars.
This. They had two prime opportunities for Leia to exit logically. The Yondu facefreeze ( ty way for Ackbar to go in that blast btw) is dramatic if derivative, and she could've used the force to move the homing beacon back to the ship and not her whole bloated self. And Holdo's sacrifice would've been more poignant with Leia at the helm -- or just poignant, since we didn't have time to give a about Holdo.
If you're running a dead pool, Fisher had to be at the top of the list. On top of that, as cool as she was IRL she couldn't act anymore. Everything she did onscreen was a struggle and after 30 years, Hamil is actually a good actor. Replacing her with Dern would've fixed everything; now they have to patch together some outtakes or Tarkin her with her daughter voicing and it's going to suck. Get ready for a lot of Luke's force ghost after he dieded from pulling a long distance Jedi mind trick.
It's not considered a runaway success like the other movies because it's not making its money fast enough. People just went to watch It due to the nostalgia factor and the special effects ( light saber/space ships battles).
lol "not a runaway success"
$1.2 billion and counting, dude.
it’s only on pace to be a top 5 domestic grossing movie of all time. It’s already at #6. They expected 25% less in box office numbers than Force Awakens, and it will be in that ballpark. But no, you’re right, it’s an abject failure because a chick uses a lightsaber in it.
A New Hope’s original release made $307 million. Empire Strikes Back “only” made $209 million. Clearly Empire Strikes Back was a total failure, and a ty movie that crapped all over the legacy of the original, probably due to SJW politics of hamfisting a black character into the story.
Seriously? So wrong in so many levels.
People went to see it because they like these type of movies. Nostalgia ain't got nothing to do with it.
Most people, certainly me weren't even around when the original movies first came out.
i've never seen harry potter. i was like 19 when it first came out and a kids film didn't appeal to me at all.
if i had to choose i'd watch all star wars films over harry potter any day of the week.
Your logic
logic isn't your forte. go tuck your between your legs now.
I would rather watch gay porn than Harry Potter because that's for kids.
