When either Kawhi retires, signs elsewhere, or is traded.

538 has the Spurs at >= 99% chance of making the playoffs. It’s pretty much impossible to tank with this team. They’ve already won too many games, and , they’re already playing the back half of the roster more than the front.

The problem with the Spurs team when it comes playoffs is that the key players like Kawhi, Danny, Parker will be extremely fragile from the lack of conditioning because of the long-term rest. And the players who have been playing in their absence e.g. LMA, will be close to breakdown.

This year is not going to be a long playoff run.. which means wasting Manu's very limited playoff appearance once more

It's too late for the Spurs to tank. The Spurs would have to go on a 20-30 game losing streak to have a shot at a top 5 pick.

Most athletes don't get to go out on top. Just look at Tim losing to the Thunder a few years ago. Very few get a David Robinson like ending.

It's funny that the most common move conducive to tanking, playing really young players heavy minutes, is what some posters want Pop to do to maximize the chance of winning, i.e. playing Murray 30+ MPG.

You’re joking right? There is plenty of games left for conditioning purposes. These are VETS..... this might be a blessing in disguise.

As per usual cliff jumping pussies are out in force this year. Well they're out in force every year now that I think about it. This team isn't going to tank with our talent, reputation, and the sheer number of games we've already won. In fact as long as the team is healthy in the post season this extra burn that the young players are getting could pay off in a really big way combined with the rest a lot of the core players have been getting. You could be looking at a playoff game this year where a big night from Bertans, Forbes, Fathead, or even Murray could make the difference between a win and a loss. Stop being such spineless Christ-worshipping pussies.

Do you actually understand how tanking works? Because I don't think you do.

people don't realize that rest is not helping guys in their 20s and early 30s. You don't win a marathon by running only 2 miles in the morning and resting the rest of the day.

You don’t seriously think guys aren’t practicing / doing conditioning work while resting I hope. They’re all doing that (besides Patty who’s in the cafeteria).

The season is a grind and the Warriors and Cavs both also rest guys during games. No reason to play 5 in 7 nights.

We're officially the 2000's Atlanta Hawks. Never bad enough to tank, never good enough to be taken seriously, bad contracts up and down the roster, empty arenas, etc....

But we had the Warriors for one half in Game 1 of the WCF before glass joe went down for the count. We will win 50 games and keep the playoffs streak going. That is what this is about now. Spurs way and keep the streak going. We will smash Golden State when Kawhi comes back. We got this. lol.
