Spurs need much more than 12 points and 5 assists from a starting point guard. I like him, so let's hope he can get up to 18 points 12 assists per game by the playoffs.
Dude, Tony never even averaged 18/12 when the Spurs were raking in championships.
Up until 2007, Tony never averaged above 19 and 6. In 2014, he averaged a shade under 17 and 6, and he never averaged more than 8 assists per game.
I get that we had Duncan and a healthy Manu for most of that run, but expecting 18/12 from DJ is outrageous. Those are Steve Nash numbers, and Murray is no Steve Nash.
Anytime he passes the ball to Anderson he's wide open, Anderson waits for the defender to come just to make the xtra pass instead of taking the shot... Murray should already have 10 assists or more.
Spurs need to get these if they hope to extend the 50-win streak. Denver can be a dangerous team, but they are also coming off a late B2B.
Spurs need to go 17-13 down the stretch to hit the mark, and there are still a lot of matchups with the Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, and Wolves which will not be easy in their current state.
