    I wouldn't be unhappy.

This team needs to add draft talent desperately. The 14th pick is better than pick 21-25.

If they could add the equivalent of an Adebayo, Anunoby, Jarret Allen, etc that would be great. There's no reason to think Milutinov will be brought over because they would probably have to use a sizable chunk of the MLE. They probably could focus on using the whole mle to get a bargain on the market rather than Milutinov. In that situation, any big could step in and get minutes over Joffrey, and a pick 14 big could do that.

Unlike many fans here evidently I love having a team in the playoffs. It’s amazing to have a vested interest in the playoffs into perpetuity

I don't understand, if Kawhi is out (I hope not), or looking like crap, why wouldn't you guys want a higher draft pick? The Spurs have gotten good/great players when they've picked higher. Why would you want a pick in the 20s if you're going to lose in the first round?

It's looking like a down year, it's not like the Spurs are going to tank and be out of the playoffs for years. I'm looking at it more like a '96/'97 season scenario. Retool for next year with a higher draft pick and then get everyone healthy and make a serious run the following year. What would be wrong with that? Definitely make sure you do everything you can to keep Kawhi, and try and retool with a better team.

No. Give me my 50 wins. If we can't win the ring then extend the streak.

Kawhi may not stay in SA even if the team is good enough to make the playoffs without him, so missing the playoffs could be disastrous on so many levels ...

Part of me would be. Maybe PATFO will stop being content and finally improve the roster.

I wish nothing but the worst for this team for the rest of the year. They're a first round sweep waiting to happen with GSW, HOU, Minny, and OKC licking their chops.

Missing the playoffs will cause Drunkford and Poop to get off their fat asses and try to build a winner again

If we win just 6 more games on the remaining 26 we are already at 50%...very difficult we don't make the play offs...
The point is that if KL doesn't play for the season, Gay don't play either, it's probable that we end our record of 20 consecutive seasons at 60% percentage aka of 18 seasons with 50 wins (ans so we lose play offs home court advantage). In this case, is very difficult we're gonna have something different than a first round exit. At that point the answer to the thread question could be yes...better a little chance at the lottery than an insignificant 4 game series with a far superior team...'cause I think its clear that we have quite no chance against very good teams without Kiwi and Gay...

No, I wouldn’t be happy. The Spurs wouldn’t bother to make the necessary changes to improve the team. They’d just excuse it as a lost year because of the Leonard injury.

Knowing how cautious Pop is, if Kawhi isnt going to be 100% by playoffs, it's not worth it. Just take the lottery pick and get ready for next season.

This is my fear if it happens. The pessimist in me just knows that the Spurs will do anything they can to maintain the status quo - unless Kawhi speaks up - because it doesn't bother them if they continue to go home early each year as long as they're winning 50 games and making money.

My best feeling is that we win 50 games to extend the streak and don't make the playoffs. Maybe we could actually get a decent draft position for a change.

I would like to see the 50 win steak continue. Anybody who believes Pop and RC would be humbled by missing the playoffs are straight up re ed. They are just going to write off this season due to Kawhi's injury.

Even though I was saying to tank a few days ago, losing just doesn't sit well with me. I'd rather make the playoffs with Kawhi healthy and take a shot at it.

You would think so, but they'll double up on what they do. They'll resign current players on this same roster to longer awful deals and they will go into the NBA Draft and do the draft and stash of some Euro that will never play here instead of drafting anyone that can be of any help. Oh, if they do draft anyone that can play now the Spurs will DNP them for the whole season.

The Spurs are starting to do the wash rinse and repeat thing, only nowthe wash isn't washing anymore.

This will never change until the Pop / RC era is over. It's time.

    Can't wait.

No point in getting a high draft pick if he is going to just sit on the bench anyway. The most disconcerting thing right now is that there seems to be no sense of urgency from the front office. If this team wants to contend in the post big three era then Buford and Pop need to get over being sentimental about some players and fully embrace the Kawhi era.

Or they'll be stupid and trade the pick away during the draft.

The pick will either waste away on the bench, or be stashed in Europe while our has beens continue to break down, and Kawhi puts further undue stress on his body.
