I was hoping him coming back to his roots would help but this guy is obviously looking for a payday to keep afloat and keep his kids.

I never really found his standup that great, screaming "CRACKA! CRACKA! CRACKA!" never did it for me when you compare it to Chapelle's racist schitck, which was witty and funny so it appealed to a wider audience.
As far as black comedians of the same era, I honestly would have a hard time putting Rock over you're Steve Harveys and Cedric the Entertainers.

Like I said, when you're best paying work is being a side character in Adam Sandler flicks a half decade ago, your career is dead. He's still working, but mainstream relevancy and the late 90s aren't coming back.

Some of it was funny, but he hangs a bit too long on a losing joke. The god jokes didn't go over well with the black audience. There was another one that was a bit silly, but he stuck with it just the same and no one seemed interested. His audience was pretty subdued overall. People telling jokes about what their kids do isn't funny for the younger folks who don't have any kids they actually come home to.
It depends tbh. They sometimes go balls out with it and sometimes they just tuck and run.
That's Gallagher's brother on tour with his material he stole, tbh. You're right, Rock's tour ended. It was a massive success. I don't think Gallagher sold out the Air Canada Center with 18k like Rock did.
Looks like it was that one arena and then small and mid sized theatres. Glad he got a swan song.
