The entire business model for Google and Facebook is built on data collection of users, data that is sold to all comers.
Google is fundamentally, in financial terms, an advertising company, while Facebook strives to be the same.
I really doubt the Repugs will kill that business model, because Google and Facebook will spend $100Ms on Repugs to defend their business models.

Oh and Thiel is a Facebook board member.
And a little more background
Like I said. Only 5% of this is public.
This is the guy into Seasteading.
Shares of Facebook began plummeting on Tuesday, March 27, after the US consumer protection regulator said it was investigating how 50million users' data got into the hands of political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.
More than $50billion (£35bn) was wiped off the value of shares in the wake of concerns over data breaches, and they've since fallen further.
Zuck and co. are now down by $95billion (£67billion).
That drop is greater than the total market value of major corporations such as chip-maker Qualcomm ($85billion), Starbucks ($81billion) and Costco ($80billion).
The US Federal Trade Commission confirmed it was probing the social media mammoth's privacy practices.

Haha...Trump lost Colorado by practically the same number of votes. That CA data really helped him out...
violations of statutes should not be enforced unless the party succeeded in their ultimate plan
Never said that. I just think CA is like vaporware...their data really wasn't able to do anything but identify trends in large populations.
If they broke the law, they should be prosecuted to the full extent. Same with Trump, or any PAC that colluded with them.
Numbers don't work the way you think they do.
How do they work?
The number of FB records has no bearing on Trump's losing a state by the same number of votes.
Why not?
OK, walk me through how it worked out that way, Ken.
