Yeah I probably take the most hardcore stance wanting to ban semiautos and even I recognize that confiscation is a nonstarter. Ban transfer and offer buybacks. Get them out of circulation over time.

That is besides the point though. There is no significant plurality that wants that in the electorate much less the various chamber houses and then of course SCOTUS has defended against confiscation multiple times in recent history.
