Porker would be a good 6th man for the Spurs next year tbh. I mean the Austin Spurs, to clarify, tbh...

There are only 2 scenarios to me.

Either he is done and can't do more or he is "saving" for the PO (hard to believe I know).

It's really sad, because it "highlights" Tony's low IQ and raw talent, disappointing that even after 17 years he didn't improve much...

Where did his mid-range game disappeared?

He doesn't even seem to be a good mentor for Murray who seems to look up to Manu and other PG instead!

Thirty six year old point guards don't do well - especially after 17 years or wear and tear. It's time. DJ and white and patty and manu and Danny will be the guys next year. I can't believe Manu is still doing amazing things at his age.

Tony, always felt he was better than he is, whether he was young or now. He hurts the team defensively, and he always has. He had a great shot blocker to clean up his mistakes. He will likely be considered the greatest Spurs point guard in Spurs history because he was on winning teams, unless Murray learns to shoot and leads the team to Championship. Right now, the way Parker has been playing, it shows how his injury has weakened his overall game and best aspect-SPEED. Yeah, he can talk about his injury was 100x worse than Kawhi's and it shows. He has become a s of his former self. His pride will prevent him from being a 13th/14th man. It will be interesting to see how much he signs for in the off-season, if the SPurs miss the playoffs--he will not be resigning by his choice or Spurs management.

His mid range game went when his athleticism went. Over the last 15 years, I haven't seen a player that is as balanced as he is. He always seemed so square to the basket. He got to his spot due to his speed, face up, and took a well balanced shot. Only Nash and Curry can rival this. Now that his speed is gone, it takes too long to shape up. He looks far more rushed on his in-between game. His body can't keep up with his mind. It happens. I still hold hope that he needs a health off-season. He can still be a good third pg - can steady the ship, add some spark, play 20 mins due to injuries. But he cannot play 20mins over 82 games. Won't happen ever again.

It’s pretty funny that Manufans got the last laugh over Porkersuckers despite Manu being five years his senior.

Oh Manu got a FMVP and 4 more All-Star appearances? Or he led the team in scoring and assists throughout the regular season and playoffs in 2014 and was the Spurs only All-Star and All-NBA player? Oh wait that was Parker, nmd.

Oh maybe Manu is leading the team in assists this year...oh no, Parker again. Maybe Manu is shooting better than Parker? Nope, not that either. But he did make back to back threes in a RS game!

I hope that’s a conversation Pop has with him. In a role like you describe he would be fine. I am just afraid that’s not the role or the minutes he and Pop have in mind.

Tony used to be my favorite of the Big from around 06 to 13 and would defend people on this forum telling him to retire even though we didn't have many pg options and he still showed he had something left. This year besides a brief 5-7 game stretch, his wheels have fallen off and he just needs to be the last guy on the bench and take a 90% mentorship/player coach role. Its amazing that Manu outlasted TP despite like a 5 year age gap!

Sadly, I think Parker is no more than a 2nd string point guard and I worry that the Spurs won't pay him like one. I've been a Parker defender, even though his heavier years. And he certainly proved a lot of people wrong last year in the playoffs until he got injured. But I just don't see him getting to that level again. You don't get faster with age unless you take steroids. Speed allowed him to get in great position to finish layups and in his prime, he was probably the best finisher in the NBA for a guy his size in the last 30+ years. Age is unkind to PG, they deteriorate quickly. The only real point guard that was effective at an older age was Andre Miller and that was because he had a body that could bang with smaller point guards. The other guys like Williams, Marbury, and Iverson got to that age and then disappeared quick.

Nor should they. You don't do that with a player who's been as decorated as Parker has been with this franchise. Pop would try to talk him into retirement before it came to that.

I wouldn't be shocked if they reach a compromise this off season and he signs a relatively inexpensive one year contract, whereby he essentially has to reprove himself an NBA player, in order to get another 2 years out of them to reach his stated goal of 20 seasons.

How is Manu “outlasting” Tony when Parker is still the team’s best distributor (leading the team in assists) and is shooting better than Manu. I know those things happen every year, so maybe you’re considering it a moral victory that Manu isn’t AS FAR behind Parker this season? Not sure what the logic is. Maybe you’re considering that Manu is playing more minutes than Parker means he’s better, even though it doesn’t translate in his numbers?

Learn how to do analysis. Manu takes a lot more threes than Porker, so of course he’s raw field goal percentage is lower. If you look at their effective field goal percentages, Manu blows Porker out.

Manu is the first man off the bench. Porker is the third string PG behind a fake PG (50Mills) and a second year scrub (Murray).

SAMan acting like Parker won't take a reduced role. Kyle's vending machine head must've blocked his view when Parker accepted his bench role and reduced minutes.

What a poster. You can tell he started watching basketball in 2014

Manu is 40 years old and still better than Porker, who's already washed up and done at age 35. Take the L and move on.

No. Parker sucks this year. Parker will not get another offer from another team besides maybe the Spurs. Manu will get multiple offers from other teams based on his play and his winning at ude in the offseason.

Imagine if HOTS was coming off the bench his entire career in Pop's system, stat padding off of the other team's scrubs night in and night out. He would probably have 10 ASG appearances instead of 6.

This team is fine once Manure hangs it up.

Manu 17 points, Porker 2 points in tonight’s critical game. Manu coming up big when it counts and Porker choking per par. Don’t forget 6/23 in 2013.
