Reminder to all, Kawhi plays for who the Spurs want him to play for next season. I seriously doubt he can maintain a career in the NBA if he is still saying he's injured, as it would make him unsignable. If he is close to being able to play or borderline I still don't think Pop would suddenly play him this playoffs which is not looking like it will last too long. I also strongly feel if any of this is a contract ploy or anything the Spurs will sue the living out of him. That's why team reps are with him when he's in NYC. He will play for us if we want whether he wants to or not.

You read me. I said they wanted LMA as #1 option, they said the team and the offense looked better without Kawhi...I won't repeat it.

Kawhi is the more efficient player and can still dominate the game on the defensive end. It’s counter-intuitive, but Kawhi is also less mentally fragile - and as such, least likely to be affected by a demotion in usage rate on the offensive side of the floor. He likely understands that the Spurs need this version of LMA for them to be able to challenge for the crown.

Gotta keep going with whatever is working.

Leonard should take the backseat until it's proven that LA can't continue to do what we've seen through four games.

Leonard can be that unstoppable beast on defense, and have the O flow through Aldridge predominately, with KL being the bailout guy on dead-end offensive sets.

Completely reading tea leaves, I imagined that the players just asked point blank, "Kawhi are you gonna play this season or not?" Kawhi gave an equivocal answer, and they said that if he wasn't going to be on the bench supporting the team, and he wasn't coming back, then it would be less of a distraction for him to just stay away - perhaps half-hoping that it might shame him into either staying and being supportive or even playing. To be honest, I can't think of many rational ways to explain his behavior if it is his own volition. I cannot think of anything comparable in professional sports. I also cannot think of anything comparable to Pop's getting a "pass" from the press for his remarkably boorish behavior. To borrow from another poster, Cam Newton was absolutely crucified for far less than Pop - OR Kawhi. Not much to like about or root for with this Spurs team.
