Of course not. You were just throwing at the wall and seeing if it would stick without anybody calling you out on it.

Honestly, don't care about the comparisons, but no other relatively significant Spur has looked this washed up... not even Duncan at the tail end...

Just concerning that the alleged reason for returning is providing leadership from the bench...

He's a soldier though, and the Spurs will do right by him...

I’m good with this if he’s 3rd. I think white needs to be the backup.

White the Starting PG, Murray the backup and Tony the 3rd string and mentor. I'm totally cool with that. But if White doesn't see minutes next season because of Tony, that's some grade A bull .

Manu was really bad at times in the 2013 post season, but he was not washed up to the point that Tony looks now.
Yeah Tony is done, agreed. Though I’d be fine with him in the continual limited role.

Depends. If SA makes moves, I think he takes what’s left. If SA blows it up, they can pay him like they did Manu with that loyalty contract the year before because it doesn’t matter at that point.

snap out of it. he's gonna be older and slower. doesn't have lift when he shoots and never was a a shooter to begin with. not a natural PG either.

it's exactly like charles used to say... "you don't get better, you get older." it is what it is.

I can understand it. Most guys probably feel like this Kawhi ed up a good year, and they don't want it to end like that. There are a number of off-season scenarios where Tony coming back makes sense. As I said before, give him one more year to see if his injury is still affecting him. Don't depend on him to be the guy, but give him the chance. If he can show something, let him get his 20 years. If he can't, cut him off at 18. Regardless, let him get another summer with Murray to work on some offensive moves.

This Parker is going to be even worse next year. He's hoping to get a Kobe legacy contract.

I call bull . Timmy looked like absolute toast against OKC. You had Steven ing Adams & Enes Kanter throwing T.D. around like a rag doll. Two dudes, while average to good, Timmy would have on even the season prior.

I agree that Tony looks completely done, whatever semblance of an NBA game he had left was lost last May, but sadly Timmy got exposed against OKC and really in those entire playoffs.

Which was the saddest moment as a Spurs fan for me.

He was much more handicapped than the previous season, but he still played 61 games, averaged 8/8 and led the team in blocks (yes, in one leg), in just 25 mins per game.

Yes, he was overmatched in that OKC series, and it was clear the physical game was not there anymore, but he had a pretty decent season. Tony's season has just been horrible, like you said, since last May.

It's not his fault either, tbh, he's younger, and I bet he wanted to give it a shot... but at this point you gotta be realistic, tbh

^^At least Duncan looked finished against other NBA starting players..

TP looks bad, despite playing against bench compe ion, players like Quinn Cook..he showed us how easy it was to be a 6th man in the Spurs system for like 3 games, but it all went downhill from there..

TD only looked bad because he hurt his "good knee" earlier in the season. That is the main reason he looked bad. He didn't decline halfway through the 2015/2016 season to the end of that season. He had a knee injury that stopped him from playing at the level he was playing prior to that injury.

I think you guys are forgetting about TD's knee injury to his good knee. He was playing pretty well before that.

Manu looked as bad as TP not too long ago before his resurgence
That's the only hope we can have, his limited PT even during his good game made me think the docs probably requested it not to take any risk. Maybe he wasn't playing at 100% of his (today's) capabilities...

Because his production doesn't even justify the vet min, it's not like he even has the personality to be a leader behind the scene or another coach on the bench, he is too silent for that.

DPG spot on about Manu a couple years back. , people were calling Tim done in 2011.

I think it's unfair to put Tony "out to pasture" based on two things...he still may not be fully recovered from the tear, and he never really adjusted his game to suit his new role. If he's given the off-season, I think we could see a mini-resurgence.

And Timmy knew it was over then and retire. His one good knee gave up on him mid way through the season and much as he tried to rehab it he was done. We all knew it. Time came. Time has come for Tony... when I saw him not be able to get by even the slowest big men, botching a fast break... which used to be a strength of his... etc. I know he will be back and hope a summer of further rehab will help him bc if he’s going to be back, I don’t want him to look like that again.

Statistically outside of shooters in major slumps like Danny, Davis, abd Forbes, he was the worst performer for San Antonio against Quin Cook. We aren’t talking Iguodala here...

Tim & Manu were able to still be positives overall despite their regression offensively because they were positive defenders.

Tony has stopped being an overall positive for 3 years now because he can not defend anyone well.

It's an entirely different situation than TD/ Manu.
