released or fired?
Will he be back in San Antonio?
Mutual separation
Hope not. Didn't impress me in ATL
It's Atlanta.
Coaches need talent to show what they can do. Show me a coach who built a legacy without talent around him.
Atlanta is a town that doesn’t care about basketball and is loaded with mediocre talent.
So fired.
He led a group of overachievers to a 1 seed in the East. But didn’t do much with the roster subsequently and probably didn’t see the pieces there.
Time for new blood if Pop is going. Take a chance, like BOS did, on a young talented coach.
With Messina likely gone, we need a new lead assistant. Coach Bud knows the ropes and would be perfect for the job.
Mutual separation? Stein was on the most recent Dunc'd On podcast and said he made some crazy amount (like $7 mill/yr). Did mention that he's an Arizona native and that he's the Suns top choice though, so maybe he gave up to the money to go back home.
He hasn't been on the same page as their new GM IIRC..Hawks are still going to be in full tank mode next season..
He’s already withdrawn from the Suns coaching search.
Watch Bud go to the Lakers to replace Walton![]()
This guy's system is so great he made Kyle Korver an all star
Im fine with either him or Becky, who made Fathead look like summer league Ben simmons
Bud as an assistant if Messina gets Hornets job would be good.
That should tell you how bad things were if Bud was willing to give up 14 mil to leave... Maybe he wants to coach a team with a GM that gives him more freedom...
If Pop retired and Bud is our next coach I would not be surprised.
come home Coach B

I got slammed for suggesting Becky a few months ago because she’s not the senior Spurs’ assistant, but I’m with you on that one. At least she’d bring fire and energy that is needed with these younger players, and she understands the game.
We need him back
Pop will run for Oprahs VP so Bud can take charge
NBA coaches are so overrated
She'd probably bring more fire/motivation than just the average newbie male coach too, since she'd be opening doors for the women and all that.
Maybe a few years down the line though. I want PopaGOAT back for as long as he wants to continue coaching.
