Hmm. They are the 24th largest metro area and rising. Not sure how media market is broken down then. Thanks for the info.

Ticket 760 Sports Chris Duel — SA needs more sports radio
Seven years old.
So were it actual news, I believe it would be....in the news....
I see no compelling reason to move the team during the current contract. It's one of the sweetest deals for an NBA team out there. A sale by one or more shareholders isn't out of the question, but that's a separate issue.
The Spurs arena contract adds huge value to the franchise worth. They own that ATT arena 344 days a year.
Just paid attention to the date on your source. It's from 2011. Just in the 7 years since, they've moved up to 31st now. And Austin is 39th now. Austin is Spurs HQ #2.
El Paso is also a big Spurs base of support.
Point is SA is a unique situation in that they really cannot be summed up by being even #31.

Lol at gots that think the spurs will ever relocate.
Cute little narrative though
All these people who want the Spurs to relocate are bitter trolls. They know even if the Spurs become a lottery team that the real spur fans will always have the 5 les to reflect on. The only way you take those 5 les away is by relocating which destroys the previous franchise history.
Oh they could move after the contract is up; if it happened I don't think they would get much farther than Austin though. Depends on a lot of factors that can't be predicted yet but SS&E's footprint is pretty firmly set in SA.
Spurs have thw best arena deal in the NBA. They would be nuts to move.
Seattle SpurSonics confirmed. Congrats![]()
Seattle already ran one nba franchise out of town because they wouldnt do an arena deal.
Wow, Jordan signed my 86 Fleer rookie card as well as an NBA Register for me back in the 1980s.
I'm guessing when you saw him during the 80's he must have been more humble back then since he hadn't won a le yet and was still getting use to being famous.
Jordan had a thing about not missing games so that he would never disappoint fans when he came to their city. I imagine that's the reason he was a good signer when playing, unlike Larry Bird or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who were both nearly impossible to get autographs from back in the day. Maybe he doesn't want to sign now that he's not playing and people aren't coming out to see him any more. But he seemed nice enough the couple of times I met him and got an autograph from him. He wouldn't shoot the with fans like Barkley or Magic would, as he was all business as soon as he stepped on the floor. But he was nice when I told him how much I liked watching him play.
