I think since I've been following Texas football in the early 80's they have switched back and forth from grass to turf and vice versa about 6 times now. What the keeps changing in the world of grass to make them think they need to switch so much.
If I'm being recruited to a school or a free agent in the NFL I'm heading to a place with a grass field.
You mean to say you would eliminate a school because of the field they played on? No you wouldn't. There are lots of reasons to pick a school and none of them are the field. I played on both and it isn't a big deal, I even played in a playoff game at the Astrodome, and that field really did suck, it was astro turf with big holes in it. All you do is change your shoes, in my case I went from wearing cleats to wearing my Air Jordan basketball sneakers.
I could see a professional like Adrian Peterson making a choice and considering the field as a determining factor, but for 99.9% of the kids out there, it isn't even a consideration.
Per 24/7, five-star ATH Bru McCoy of Santa Ana, CA will take an official visit to UT the weekend of the USC game.
Potentially a massive recruiting weekend we haven't see in Austin in a long time.
Lol affordable

24/7 mentioned today that Texas is running third behind Stanford and Texas A&M (first I've read about A&M being heavily involved).

From the USC 24/7 board on ATH Jake Smith of Scottsdale, AZ:
While USC seemed to be on the outside looking in for Chandler (Ariz.) four-star tight end Bryaden Liebrock, who committed to Texas this week, the Trojans have been among Scottsdale (Ariz.) four-star wide receiver Jake Smith’s favorite schools since the beginning of his recruitment. However, as it stands, Texas appears to be the clear leader for Smith heading into his official visit later this month.
USC is Smith’s dream school, which is why he wants to give the Trojans another chance. But as it stands, Texas has a big lead for his commitment and the Longhorns are slated to get their own official visit from Smith a week or two after he visits Los Angeles. Tim Beck, who actually coached at Saguaro High School from 1993-1995, is the lead recruiter for Texas. From what we hear, fit is probably the biggest issue for Smith with USC. From a small parochial school, Smith fell in love with Austin (Texas) during his two trips there. Los Angeles, as much as USC, has to convince Smith to change his mind about going to Texas.
Quotes from S Chris Adimora of Lakewood, CA (Inside Texas):
"I loved it (at UT). It felt like LA, but away from LA. Home away from home. When I got off the plane I knew it was special. I've never seen a campus like that. Texas is way up on my list. The players make you feel at home."
"Priorities are different in Texas; people eat, live and breathe football."
"The coaches said they'd use me at boundary safety. If they have guys like #25 (BJ Foster) and Sterns I'm thinking why would I go there? Then they told me they play four safeties a lot of the time."
Quote from Inside Texas:
“My mom, stepdad and head coach have all been over there at some point today,” said Bragg.
I can see Bragg visiting UT again this summer. Texas continues to build here and looks good.
