3/10. Easily the most inconsequential and inessential film of the entire franchise, including the prequels. I had low expectations and it didn't come close. I'm not sure I'd say it's worse than Phantom Menace yet, but it's in the conversation.
I won't get into it much until more people have seen it. But one of my biggest complaints about the movie has nothing to do with story, characters, acting, continuity, etc. (I have complaints about all of those things as well)
It's the ing lighting. That's the worst lit movie I've ever seen. The background in almost every scene is brighter than the foreground, which is unnecessarily dark and makes it hard to read facial expressions for most of the film. Ever taken an indoor photo of people with a window nearby, and the window is by far the brightest thing in the picture while the people are almost silhouettes by comparison? That's how this whole ing movie is shot. Seeing how most of the backgrounds are CGI, I don't understand how this could be messed up as badly as it was. It's like a DC movie except there's always something really bright behind the characters.
thats unfortunate. i was hoping the move would be
lit
thanks tbh
I expect more of the same if the Obi Wan, Boba Fett, etc movies ever come to pass (minus the bad lighting). Disney needs to quit milking the same old characters/storylines.
Or not get Ron Howard to direct them.
Even though it looks ty, I don’t get the “unnecessary” or “pointless” complaints. Literally every movie ever made can be called pointless and unnecessary.
He wasn't the original director. He was brought on in the middle of the project iirc because he can deliver a completed product underbudget and with time to spare.
I know, I just don't really care for his movies outside of Splash.
He always came off to me as just a guy that shoots whatever is on the page, never trying to inject his own "style" into anything, never takes risks, etc. And as such, his movies are rarely memorable.
Apollo 13 is probably the highlight of his career.
KK needs to off. Her stupid decision to turn star wars into sjw bull has ed up this franchise. I never thought that I would say this, but the prequels are a master piece compared to this disney . Rogue one was the only decent movie, force awakens was just a copy paste, the last jedi made me dead inside and this soylo is just pathetic. I also don't care for boba fett or obi wan. Make something original already. .
Other than that annoying fat asian chick in the last jedi I have no idea what liberal agenda these movies are supposed to have tbh. People are really reaching. If last jedi sucked it was because of the new powers and the comedy not some political agenda
Solo had an overtly feminist Droid but she was more of a characature than anything sincere. I'm sure she'll still annoy the out of the gamergate types.
The last jedi without any politics sucks. Rian Johnson shat on everything from the force awakens and destroyed it. And until KK who is wearing ''the force is female'' shirts is the president of Lucas Film this franchise will be doomed.
A few other people told me Rogue One was totally worth watching despite the Disney gotry.
So you are mad about a T-shirt one lady wore offscreen?
no i am not really mad. It's just disappointing the direction that SW has gone to. I understand if some people like this new stuff, I just don't.
The characters in the movie are pretty boring but the story is pretty good. Watched it 3 times now and it gets better every time while the Force Awakens just gets worse. I won't be watching Last Jedi ever again, that movie was pathetic.
Yeah how dare a story about a bunch of s and gooks and girls (yuck) be told! Give me my good ol white male Star Wars back!
and to think this entire re ed, whiny ass “
Star Wars is SJW crap
” fest started because they dared to show a black Stormtrooper in the first TFA trailer a year before the movie came out.
So glad the reddit community is ripping this one up.
Lol solo
I don't have anything about john boyega, daisy ridley or any actor in the movies. I just find them not interesting. Its just my opinion, no need to get mad about it. If you like it thats great.
magically backing off the whole SJW angle when called out on it. Now suddenly it’s just “I didn’t like the movies”

Movie was fine. It was not an all-time move but far from bad.
I don't get the SJW argument at all, which usually leads to something that was said or done off-screen. None of the movies have pushed any type of liberal agenda that I've seen (haven't seen Solo yet though). Conservatives will claim victory soon enough though when Solo fails to meet financial expectations, stating that it was a result of some boycott. It has nothing to do with the fact that the movie doesn't look good or that it has been less than six months since the last Star Wars movie.
