Since 1973-74 season (1st year in the NBA)

The Spurs have had only 6 losing seasons, meaning below .500
the Spurs didn't make the playoffs 4 times in their history
The Spurs have gone to the Conference Finals 14 time, 11 since 1984 when it moved to a 16 team format
Spurs have won the Conference finals 6 times
Spurs have won 5 NBA Championships

All of this has happened in their 45 year history.

    Conversely, the New York Knicks
    Since 1946-47 season

The Knicks have had 35 losing season, meaning below .500
Didn't make the playoffs 30 times in their history
Knicks advanced to the conference finals 4 times since the NBA went to a 16 team Format
The Knicks have won the Conference 8 times in their history
The knicks have two NBA Championships, their last was in 1972.

Things that have happened since the Knicks won
    Cell phone
    VCR invented
    First Sony Walkman
    GPS
    MRI
    DNA FINGERPRINTING
    Prozac
    Electric cars
    front wheel drive cars
    WIFI
    Internet
    Personal Computer

    Events that have happened
    911
    Fall of Soviet Union
Reunification of East and West Germany
    Iran Hostage situation
    Watergate
    End of Vietnam war
    NBA ABA merger

You get the idea, long time.

Point to all this, is that NY fans would love to be where Spurs fans are right now coming off a 28 year run of kicking ass and taking names starting with David Robinson in 1989 and still going now. If we lose Kawhi and have to be down for a couple years, I feel good that we can be back, but if not, it was still a of a run.

Right on, Godfather. It's been a great run. No reason not to stay optimistic.

Agree with OP. It's been a great run since 1990 They were good in the Gervin era too. But I would say it's the 1990-now period that really stands out as a LONG time to be consistently at a level of competing for a championship. Not only did they win 5 championships, they also had numerous years where they could have won depending on match ups, injuries, or just making shots. 1995, 2004, 2006 and 2013 come to mind.

Plus think of all the years we got to see the Sours rip the collective heart out of Phoenix. That team has never recovered. The Spurs have been a thorn in Lebron's side for years, since Bowen schooled him in 2007. Of course the best was the revenge of 2014.
As a fan we got to watch great players like Ginobili and Parker, and possibly a top 5 all time player in Duncan. And a class act and legend David Robinson. Lots of wins. Go Spurs Go
No clue where they are going right now.

SO who should you have more respect for. Some poor slob whose spends his last dime rooting for a team who doesn't make the playoffs or a person who expects to spend their money on a winner, and will refuse to do so otherwise.

The former. Because the latter sounds like a bandwagon fan. And I don’t like that, personally.

And NY is about to lose Porziņģis. That loud mouth Steven A. Smith Is always talking about the nicks on his radio show. I wish they'd cancel it. Who gives a crap about the east coast? It's the same when the west coast guys come on too. It's Lakers and Warriors talk all the time.
