the "betrayal" is the spurs not having his back throughout the season, deserved or not. Pop constantly saying "i dont know, ask his camp" instead of saying "he's not ready to come back, we support his rehab" etc. like "dnp - injury return management" instead of "dnp-quad"

saying "he's been cleared since february, its up to him"... manu/tony making comments that were clearly directed at him

you could certainly say kawhi didnt deserve to have that support, given his actions. but that's probably what he's referring to, generally. i brought these up as bad signs when they were going on. there's also a lot of blame on kawhi for not really being part of the team, completely hiding from the media all season to help clear the air. but if you're looking from his perspective, you have a team that was publicly questioning his injury and commitment
    It doesn't check out, imo.

He didn't feel betrayed when reports were coming out that tensions between the two sides had cooled and an extension was imminent? Only after Woj reported that PATFO wasn't going to go in on their hands and knees with the supermax?

Honestly, it's possible this just wants the supermax and then pulls some weak a year from now anyway. The only reason to do it is because it gives the team more leverage in trade talks. Theirs no happy ending between the two sides regardless.

Dude sends cryptic Tweets about how Spurs fan are spoiled and there is excitement coming, drops the news about Kawhi, and hides when people are calling out his cryptic Tweets.
Maybe he was being sarcastic tbh

Why don't we start with roster construction.
    Nice try. Next.

That roster was Vegas betting odds to be 4th most likely to win the chip this year. And it held the 3rd seed most of the year, WITHOUT HIM.

So get the on with that garbage.

Besides last I heard they were trying to get him LeBron next year.

If it's true that Kawhi is asking to get traded to the Lakers, then that's been his plan all along. It didn't matter what Pop/RC/Parker/Manu/Medical Staff/Ball Boy did/said all year. So, no reason to play the blame game. Just ship him East in the best package you can get.

"Pop has the power to correct any perceived deficiencies that Kawhi may have,” a league executive told the Express-News.

So Kawhi basically stole 19 million from the Spurs this year to sit on his ass and plot forcing a trade He ed SA pretty good. I didn't think he had it in him. He always seemed like a humble guy who wouldn't play these kind of games. I guess the writing was on the wall when he didn't even show up to sit on the bench and support his team during the playoffs.
Uncle Dennis deserves all the credit. Kawhi is a re ed mute no way could he have come up with this scheme on his own.

Where's he going to go in 2019? The Lakers will be all capped out, and have no leverage. He'd also have to leave ANOTHER $40M on the table to walk out. Sacto apparently doesn't really care, or are convinced that they can sign him. Like Cam said, if they call with that, you do it before they change their minds.
I'm saying he'd never even make it to SAC to have to worry about 2019. Would SAC believe that the $40M is enough to call his bluff and make the trade anyway? I agree that IF the trade happened, he'd probably stay there. But it's a matter of SAC believing it.

Kawhi doesn't like the Spurs roster, but he's demanding a trade to a team that won 12 less games and hasn't made the playoffs in 5 years? Stop..
Makes sense imo. Neither team is beating the dubs anyway. And who wants to play for a coach that put out media hits on you all season?

Yeah thats assuming the report of him being open to playing there to be true. God, I've love that trade so ing much, honestly. He gets to go to one of the worst 3 franchises in the NBA and We get either Ayton or Luka. Sign me the up for making that work.
    This.

So what if the Spurs just shrug and expect him at training camp. After all they have until next year's trade deadline.

You think Kawhi plays rehab again until then?
If I'm pop, unless I have a blockbuster deal, I tell Kawhi to try it. And if he does, sue him for two year's salary. Then be sure to show him the quote from his Uncle Dennis wherein he said Kawhi was almost 100%, 96% or 97% to be exact.

PATFO played them to get that admission on the record.

    Jabari Young article:

    https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/..._medium=social

"National reports have already surfaced suggesting Leonard preferred destination is the Los Angeles Lakers, but league sources have told the Express-News the Philadelphia 76ers could be in play to acquire Leonard, too."
Well that’s something, Ben Simmons and fultz with dj would create such a bad shooting team, and pop loves his three guard lineups

Giving PATFO that much credit RC is a drunk and Pop doesn't give a about basketball anymore.

I'm not worried. This seems like an attempt at a power move by Kawhi's team after hearing PATFO was not going to come in begging. Leonard demanding a trade does not automatically mean he's going to get one. That's even more true after hearing his group pulled some DeAndre Jordan . I fully expect the team to continue to wait this out. If Kawhi's group is saying they're only willing to reup for the supermax, then they are willing to take less. Money is the most important thing to them, and making up with SA is the only way to maximize his future earnings, even if he doesn't get the full DPE.

If I'm them, I'd flat out tell his disgraceful ass and his s bag representation/mouthpiece in the media (he should be fired immediately and black listed throughout the industry), that short of being blown away by the Celtics, 76ers, or someone unexpected (100% no to L.A.), they're not trading him.

him. He can come back, deal with this awkward, uncomfortable atmosphere that he's helped create and if they have a sense sometime between Dec. 15 (I know you know the significance of that date) and the trade deadline that it's still irreparable, then trade his ass hopefully after he's re-proven himself.

I don't think the offers will change much, if any in that time and even if it does end up costing them a secondary asset like a mid-late 20s pick in the '19 draft, it'll be well worth it to watch his ass have to squirm.

That should be the play unless you get a ridiculous offer before the draft tbh. They should be in no hurry to trade him.

At least they won't feel the pressure to trade him like the Cavs did with Kyrie..

Cleveland had to deal with the 24/7 LeBron news cycle, it would have been a major distraction had they kept Kyrie against his wishes..Spurs would get headlines, but wouldn't be much different than we saw all season, it wouldn't take over the basketball world like the Kyrie drama..

I'm not sure I can explain it to you other than to say...it's Sacramento. Their owner thought it would be a good idea to run the cherry-picker offense from his daughter's youth league.

What would be funny is if SA trades him to a non-Laker destination, and then PG13 and Bron look at each other, and realize that the two of them can't get it done against GS, and the whole Laker fantasy falls apart. PG13 takes the extra $40M to stay in OKC, and Bron does whatever he does.
