If ESPN is true, also why did it get here? Ask for trade 1 yr ago when the Lakers had better assets. Ask for a trade at the deadline and build rapport. It would be amazing to screw the spurs but expect league side endorsements
I'm actually reacting to the part about alerting rival teams that he'll only sign with the Lakers and the part about being purposely difficult for the Spurs to reach...I mean, that's like pushing the animosity to Level 11...how did they go from being open to Supermax to this in just few days? BTW, I've been following this long enough to realize that this is mostly theatrics, but it's still little jawdropping to see this actually being reported, even as a "leak".

If espns report is true, kwahi has to be the biggest in nba history. Your getting paid 20 million, act like a professional. You don’t want to play here fine but at least be willing to meet with your employer who is paying you millions of dollars. You want to play for LA next year fine, be non committal when asked if you would resign. Don’t come out and say I’m only going to resign with LA. Have a little bit of loyalty to the team you won a le with. Other than Aaron Hernandez, has a team, it’s fans, and the leagues fans in general ever been more wrong about a persons character. If I’m another team, I’m starting to get concerned about his character more than if he is going to resign with us.

Parker's comment was nothing. He said the "100%" part as an aside when explaining how Kawhi needed to stay positive and keep his head up while he was rehabbing. It was not even a slight to Kawhi. The media blew it up. Same with Manu's comments.
A lot of these texts about accepting the super-max make sense if Kawhi's ultimate goal is to get paid the super-max while forcing a trade to the Lakers. Purely speculation, but he probably wanted to sign a super-max with a no-trade clause. That way, he gets his money. He then sits and forces a trade to the Lakers, still has his money, and his new team doesn't have to give up anything.
Spurs probably indicated that they didn't want to pay supermax, especially with a no-trade clause. So Kawhi knows he's going to go to the lakers, but he wants them to have as much talent as possible once he gets there. So now he lets it be known that he'll only sign with the Lakers. He's banking on the Spurs trading him to the Lakers and then signing a max contract with Bird rights, which is the next best thing.
Purely speculation, real made, but that's probably his thought process.

Sac/Spurs/Fakers but more like PHX/Spurs/Fakers. Phx get Whi, move onto Fakers for young talent, Ingram, Kuzma, Ball etc and Deng contract. Fakers take Whi rights and free cap for Bron/pg. Spurs take pick 1.

It's not the first time nor the last that a star player wants out and play for a big market. Melo, Dwight, PG, even Kobe wanting to become a Bull. But those guys kept playing, man.

If everything is true then trade this guy to a show for a year (although I'm sure that team would end up making a deal with LA to get players back after he's eligible to trade again.) I'd say Sacramento but that's too close to home. I'd send his ass to Cleveland for #8.
I really think Kawhi is a puppet for his entourage. He probably doesn’t care where he plays. Just listening to others tell him what to do. He seems like a simple trusting guy. I just think anti-SA people are in his ear.
