Now that the draft is over...

Kiwi still wants to be in LA and I think he would have "settled" for the Clipps. Now, the Clipps don't have those two 1sts RC Buford would've wanted...and the Lakers still have their young assets and cap space to make a deal. The longer the inevitable drags on, the better leverage Maginka gains.

Pop was popping off at the mouth about "Kiwi's camp" now he looks turrible and PATHETIC:

Spurs wouldn't even take the Lakers calls. You ain't getting him. Spurs aren't stupid enough to help build a superteam in their conference (only chance the Lakers have of the Bron, George, Kawhi trio is acquiring KL through a trade this season). Have to wait until FA next season.

Agreed, but it's silly and petty. Why? When (not if) he leaves, yall going lotto...and nobody beating the Dubs anyway. So why not get the best package available? Boston could trump any Laker offer, but they won't because they won't give up any real assets on a 1-year rental.

No other team will either. Why? All Uncle Fester has to say is "I don't care who trades for my nephew. In 2019, when he's an UDFA, he signing with the Lakers." Or something to that effect.

Now, if Kiwi has to play out the season anyway as a Spur, so be it. Let him knock off the rust and just when he regains his 2016 form, BOOM! He signs with the Lakers.

I wouldn't trade for him. For the first time I'd like to see us develop a team from scratch. And please don't sign that loser George. Thread was right about that clown.

Lakers would likely try to include Deng in any package to get him off the books. Spurs don't want that .

lol what a load of bs, if money isnt the issue, then why was he begging jordan for bigger shoe deal?

he wants the supermax from spurs to stay, if not his leaving to whatever team...

the stupidest thing from kawhi and his camp, he was on his way to supermax deal till he pulled off the season..hence it was a weak year to make allnba/defensive team, yet he chose to sit out...

he thinks he has the upper hand in all of this, but in reality i think the spurs are in a better position with the current roster of young players coming through...they can afford to let him walk instead of receiving in return trying to build something to win a ring with gsw superteam?....

Sorry, son. Jerry has cap space next year. LeBron, Kawhi, SGA. The new Big Three.

So, are the Lakers gonna waste their cap space on Lebron and PG this offseason? Or do they save it for Kawhi?

I also am chill on PG.
    Not at max money.
IF lebron came and (PG) agreed to take less Im all in. Lebron obviously gets whatever salary he wants.
Otherwise i am not with the SAS bull that we need a big "fish" this year.
Nothing wrong with saving cap space and building around core.
The goal like Pelinka should be long-term success not instant gratification.
I would also -re-sign Randle to a reasonable deal 12-15 max.
If He wants more you let him walk.

sign george for the max if that’s the only way to entice him. y’all crazy. you expect to keep filling the roster with kcp and brook lopez type of players? they need an all star caliber player and george woukd fit right into the development of the youngins

i do agree that they should hold and see what the kids can do first, especially ingram. i feel like that kid is going to have a breakout season and his trajectory + off season dedication suggests this. trading him now, would be a costly mistake.

Agreed. Something like 4/$56 milli for Ju is my guess. He'd be 27 years old at the end of his deal. Plenty of time to get his big payday.

Not saying I say no to him I just don't think he is worth a max slot. Of course he is an upgrade over KCP... And would improve us but he is more akin to getting Aldridge a few years back rather than a franchise changer like LeBron or Anthony Davis. All Aldridge as a main pillar got Spurs, was a sweep. George was swept by Cavs his last year in Indy and lost to Jazz as the #2 with Russ...
Just don't see how much better we are if he is our best player and now we can't get anyone better for a few years... If KL or LeBron is leading him fine but keep in mind Russ wasnt able to lead him out of Round one...

You're just going to have to deal with paying max money to non Hall of Famers like PG13. The CBA is set up to greatly reward B-level talent at the expense of A-level, so you're never going to build a supporting cast around a superstar without handing out those kind of contracts. It's why I could give a about the Spurs landing B-level talents like Ingram or Jaylen Brown in trade for Leonard, because those guys are halfway through their cheap contracts and will demand (and receive) around $25 to $30 million starting salary by the time their deals are up. You gotta max George out if LeBron comes. If not maybe you still do it to keep Leonard interested in coming next summer. For the Spurs case there is no superstar nor much of a chance of one for a while with Leonard gone, so no reason to become a treadmill team with high dollar B-level talent. Once they find a HOF level player then they can start throwing out those kind of contracts to good but not great players.
