If Kawhi and Anderson go, who’d be our 3 guy? Anybody in FA we can sign?

Makes you appreciate why Gay opted out. He potentially has some leverage here to get a longer term deal.

If Kawhi goes we get something back, well know better at that time.

But the answer is a three guard lineup of white, Patty,v and Murray

That ship has sailed, I fear. If Kawhi wanted to sign with Boston, I could possibly see it, but Ainge is also a tight-ass.

Ainge's ass will be anything but tight after dealing with a starting lineup of Simmons/Red /Leonard/James/Embiid in the ECF if LeBron decides he's going east.

It really depends on how many guards come back. Pop played Patty, Murray, Danny toward the end of last year, and I think that continues unless both Tony and Manu leave. Had Philly held onto Bridges, I think he'd've been a big part of a Leonard trade. Despite some here loving Zhaire Smith, I don't see him filling that same role. Covington coming back is almost a necessity in a Leonard trade, and that should be okay. I'd prefer him to that sandwich that's Kyle Kuzma. Cov, Saric, the Miami pick and Philly's unprotected pick along with Bolden's rights is a conservative package for Leonard, and adding a Mills-for-Bayless swap would let me be relatively content. Obviously Tatum (not even Brown now) helps the most, but that ship has sailed. I'd be willing to take back Hayward too, if the Spurs got to dump Patty and Pau, and the SAC and MEM picks were added in.

Assuming a weird scenario where Kawhi isn't on the team anymore but the club doesn't get an SF as part of the deal, there are some interesting options on the market. Hezonia as a flyer or Bjelica as solid depth makes sense if they have to use part of the MLE to bring in Milutinov. I'd also like Will Barton to be the new sixth man or even starter if he can be had for the MLE. He's a good scorer and has some handling skills, and he should be in his prime throughout his next deal. Mills/Murray/Green -- White/Walker/Barton isn't a bad perimeter rotation at all.

I had this niggling feeling that if things with Kawhi were a little more advanced than is being let on, that LeBrett Brown did the Zaire Smith and the future 1st, knowing the Spurs may have been high on the freshman’s potential as well etc, more so than Zaire just being Philly 1B as reported, OR, do you think Browny just saw it as an opportunity to trade back so to speak, pick up a very good freshman, same a bit of salary cap room while grabbing their 1B and that future pick? Wots your thought Chinook?

I had Bridges tagged as a key to a trade love his game could start day one. It broke my heart when Philly traded him cause I new we were not doing a trade with Philly that day.

Yer I’ve been pretty high Bridges as well tbh albeit he being a senior etc. I studied the Browny interview however, and if you put aside the 1B comment and don’t get too distracted with that in particular the interview just screamed out to me of a full blown raid by Browny for Kawhi using these assets. Kawhi/Sent East/Browny - higher chance of convincing him to extend?

If this were to be the case, I think the Spurs would just go full time small ball. They added some more athleticism through the draft, so I am expecting them to be a "positionless" basketball squad. I think the name of the game next year is speed, speed and more speed. If the offense bogs down, they will most likely run the offense through LA for the half court set.

The 3 spot was the Spurs weakness pre-Kawhi. It likely will be again....along with the 1-2 and 4 spots.

For reasons above I think we’re shipping Kawhi to 76s. Won’t solve the PF situation, that’ll have to be a separate issue.
