Good for you, Danny. One player knows the team that made him.
i like that woj included both that he is taking the money and will stay with the team, since kawhi is expected to take money and not be with the team
Good for you, Danny. One player knows the team that made him.
Would have been a complete moron to turn down 10 mil coming off the worst season of his career..
To be fair, if his agent was Uncle Dennis, he probably would have![]()
Well we have our Klay/Steph defender back, now we just need our Durant defender...
Glad to have Verde back, tbh.
He had a down year and frankly, his best days are probably behind him but...with everything the team has going on, he is the least of our worries.
If he had left, it would have been another gaping hole to fill, tbh. Walker isn't going to be ready to jump into the Green role on day 1.
would have preferred him opting out... but lets see if the contract year is enough to get his shot back on track.
Starting small forward as of today...
Don’t sleep on the trade-ability of the deal.
Obvious shot at Kawhi tbh
I'll go ahead and pencil in his 5 ppg contribution.
Just more expiring money to match LeBron in the opt in and trade, right?
![]()
Uncle Dennis is about to get his mute nephew a 219mil contract after quitting on the team tbh![]()
If the spurs give him 219 it'll include a throw uncle over the border wall proviso. Spurs will blacklist that mofo
Just keeps taking shots at SA/Pop or is it just me??
^^I don't really take that as a shot, it's true, in this case..other than Parker, Green has probably taken the most verbal abuse from Pop of any Spur in recent history, they even joked about it after winning the le..they seem to have a good relationship, but it's certainly true that many NBA players would not tolerate Pop's method of coaching..
And I think Jabari is correct to mention his money, he wasn't taking a shot at the Spurs, he was referring to the many hateful tweets..sports fans have very short memories..Danny is certainly overpaid right now at 10 mil per year coming off a horrible season, but he was worth significantly more than that when he signed his deal, it wasn't like Pau or Mills where they got paid for nothing..
Ok, but what players haven’t been able to “take it”? Who has left compared to who has stayed and even people like Bron/Iverson who never played said they would love it.
^^It isn't tough to figure out, my brother
Who are the players that decided to leave or were unhappy with the Spurs the past 2 seasons? Who are the 2 players that asked for a trade? Do they all have anything in common?
Asking for a trade and creating a narrative that Pop runs players off or something is where I draw the line. LMA ended up extending so that’s another one that could handle it![]()
I don't think he runs players off, but many NBA players would not want to be coached that way today, I don't know how you can disagree with that without being a little naive..
Also, this is the toned down version of Pop, he doesn't yell or care nearly as much, yet he still has players asking for trades and leaving..the Pop that Danny had to deal with at his peak was on a different level, there are very few players in today's NBA that would tolerate being consistently berated..
This type of is embarrassing, no way I would ever let somebody talk to me like that in public as a grown man..the idea of coaches yelling at players is so antiquated..
Steve Kerr and Brad Stevens(respectively) are the examples of how coaches should approach players nowadays..the former never interferes and promotes his team's players acting however they want on the court, and the latter is always calm and treats the players like his equals..
One has 4 All Stars the other has (2) Top 3 picks and 2-3 Max players
I don't care about how good their teams are, I'm referring to their approach to coaching..Stevens has never even made a Finals, I don't care about that..
It's only going to get worse with all these new kids coming in..at least Pop seems to recognize it a bit, as he's toned it down..
I’ve seen Kerr yell plenty of times. It’s all freaking narrative man. Come on.. I mean, if players wouldn’t want to be coached that way and Pop is not running them off, then what you do think that means?
It’s narrative. Just because Kawhi wanted out, doesn’t change the fact that former players loved Pop, guys like Danny and even LMA still stick around and how mega stars like Lebron gush over him.
Pop is on another level of ting on a player tbh imo
Yet they still stay. And mega stars like Bron still clamor for him.
