I don't care about how good their teams are, I'm referring to their approach to coaching..Stevens has never even made a Finals, I don't care about that..

It's only going to get worse with all these new kids coming in..at least Pop seems to recognize it a bit, as he's toned it down..

You approach higher paid players, Top picks different...you brought up Danny Green. Player with plenty of flaws.....

    Just a bad take tbh

That's a really stupid way to look at it, coach

Veteran role players don't want to get embarrassed in public either, these are grown men..they know when they mess up, they don't need some old man screaming at them about it..it's a very antiquated method of coaching..

Military, drill-sargeant disciplinarian coaching is trash..the only reason it worked with the Spurs is because Duncan allowed Pop to treat him that way, which has been echoed by pretty much everybody..times have changed, nobody is buying this Spurs culture anymore, the best players on the team are asking for trades

Yet they still stay. And mega stars like Bron still clamor for him.
But they don't sign here.. Besides old gots and ring chasers in the tail end of their careers. And LMA but he's also a got and requested a trade after a couple of seasons so...

But yet still staying...LMA didn’t ask for a trade because he got yelled at either. Cant speak out of both sides; LMA signed an extension.

One player is truly leaving. One.

Who has SA had money to sign? It’s not Pop that has kept people from singing and actually one of the few times SA had equal money, Pop landed the biggest FA fish in LMA.

Aldridge stayed because Pop literally changed his ways just for him Spurs were desperate to keep him with Kawhi's health in question and it's even possible that the Dennis had already started back then..

Discussing the Aldridge trade demand : "As discussions went on, it became apparent to me that it really was me," Popovich said.

Furthermore, the way this Kawhi has gone down, there will definitely be second guessing from players regarding their desire to play for Pop, no doubt about it..

But you compare Stevens, Kerr to Pop...

Like you’re pretty Kerr, Stevens have more success and are better because of their coaching styles..yet those two have way more talent which allows them to be more “laid back”

Anyways, the point is that I don't think Jabari was taking shots at Pop IMO..I agree with him that there aren't many American NBA players who would be cool with being screamed at like a child the way Green has as a Spur..

Again, the guys on the team even joked about it in the locker room after the Spurs won the le, it was egregious

I gotta go with this too. I mean, Jabari may have felt the need to point it out because he has it out for SA, but that doesn't invalidate what he said. Green's been a loyal to the club, both in being able to joke about Pop yelling at him to taking less money, to recruiting LMA even though PATFO had essentially told Green Aldridge was taking his salary slot. The fact that we all understood why Green would be inclined to move on should demonstrate that it wasn't all roses for him. Dennis would have pulled some stunts long ago if Kawhi had been given the Danny treatment.

    Well said

I love Danny Green, and he is one the last few players left from the '13 and '14 teams. Him, Patty, Manu, Kawhi and Tony. And to think we might lose Kawhi before Manu!

You know this board has gotten taken over by adolescents when they start throwing out the "Pop is a big meanyhead" takes.

Pop has always ripped into his players when they up, from Tim Duncan all the way down the line. And they become better players for it.

There is a reason that Danny was stuck dancing on the sidelines before he came to San Antonio.

Would have been a complete moron to turn down 10 mil coming off the worst season of his career..

To be fair, if his agent was Uncle Dennis, he probably would have
It's sad. He was really bad this past season. I can't get excited about him at this point. Once he injured his groin, he was bad the rest of the way.

Hopefully he gets some compe ion for minutes this year.

I'm pretty sure Lamarcus got special treatment from Pop. Anyone ever seen him get berated from him? Here we all thought Kawhi was like Tim Duncan (able to lead by example and take the punishment). Now this comes out, its Pop's fault. So far Leonard is still under contract. I think most of us have seen Pop's time coming too. I saw Ettiore Messina thoroughly outcoach Pop albeit he was obviously going through some personal things that no one realized at that time but still. Pop is definitely nearing retirement soon and should have a solid succession plan that he tells everyone by this offseason including players and free agents.

Well we have our Klay/Steph defender back, now we just need our Durant defender...
    Klay defender? is this 2013?

Klay impregnated his girlfriend and shot an easy 51.6% from three for the series

Better it be taken by "adolescents" that know what they're talking about than old vanilla fans that haven't watched a game in years.

LOL @ Danny having "just a bad year"

I guess I should have added when both (Kawhi and Green) are on the court at the same time. That is the issue most teams face against he Warriors - they have someone that can guard Klay/Steph but not Durant or vice versa. Spurs when healthy can guard both.

Steve Kerr and Brad Stevens(respectively) are the examples of how coaches should approach players nowadays..the former never interferes and promotes his team's players acting however they want on the court, and the latter is always calm and treats the players like his equals..
Kerr acts like a Montessori school teacher towards Curry.
