    The media is freaking out because LeBron has given the Lakers a deadline.

    Nothing for the Spurs has changed.

    They are not in a hurry.

    They are not afraid to let Kawhi walk in free agency in a year.

    They are not going to trade for crap they don’t want just for the sake of getting something.

    They understand that they’ll get 50 cents on the dollar at best.

    They are not going to hand $219 million to a player, regardless of talent, who malingered and quit on his team for most of a season, unless they see a change in which he mans up and takes accountability for his behavior.

    Because if he doesn’t, you can’t build a team around him anyway.

    So they are fine with moving on.

    But they are willing to keep the door open should he have a change of heart, up until someone offers a trade they like, or he leaves in free agency.

    His uncle is holding out for the supermax. The Spurs are not wanting to offer it until they get the 100 from the medical standpoint
    I think this was always about the supermax and it went out of control

    Boston is just as cautious as the Spurs. The Celtics probably know that the Spurs haven't offered the supermax and are wondering why.

    From what I'm told and how I understand it, is the Spurs won't offer the supermax until they get some kind of clearance that he's 100% healthy.

    Yeah, and they may be willing to put him on the court in pre-season to show that he's still able to play. There are portions. They don't need to move.

    Rumblings of a Godfather Lakers offer for San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard have rival teams wondering if anyone else can compete here. The latest summer of LeBron has officially begun...

    Talking to the Celtics and Lakers sends a simple message to the Cavs:

    You want LeBron to stay;

    Kawhi is your best shot to make that happen;

    Give us a good deal or watch them both in Lakers uniforms next year.

    Leverage play. Magic is clearly freaking out at the prospect of the Celtics getting Kawhi.

    You have to put emotion behind you, and look after yourself. You keep Kawhi next year and he walks for nothing. He’s leaving so might as well get the best start to a rebuild/retool . Kawhi gives you a headstart.
    Yes, but not to the Lakers. Emotions? Trading Leonard to the Lakers is an irrational move.

    First, the Lakers aren't offering anything special. Adding what they're offering would possibly improve our roster, but so would other moves.

    Second, Leonard to the Lakers creates a super-team overnight, as LBJ will most likely go west to LA once Leonard is on board.

    It is irrational for the Spurs to create another super-power out west.

    More importantly, no trade (even if agreed to) will be completed if Kawhi's not 100% healthy.

    That's another layer of drama we'll have to endure if a trade happens, e.g., would the ever-honest Kawhi tank the physical?
