The only thing that has changed over the past month or so is that the Spurs are definitely ready to move on from him, but they are not going to be railroaded into it-- neither by Kawhi camp, nor by a pro-Lakers media frenzy..

Define “Godfather Lakers offer.” In Magic’s eyes, that probably Ingram + Kuzma + a couple picks.

    Still wouldn’t do it.

Boston is just as cautious as the Spurs. The Celtics probably know that the Spurs haven't offered the supermax and are wondering why.

From what I'm told and how I understand it, is the Spurs won't offer the supermax until they get some kind of clearance that he's 100% healthy.
Can't trade the guy if he gets a super max anyway. Kawhi and his camp are rumored to want a no trade clause. This coupled with the distrust is probably a no brainer not to offer that sort of contract.

The media is freaking out because LeBron has given the Lakers a deadline.

Nothing for the Spurs has changed.

They are not in a hurry.

They are not afraid to let Kawhi walk in free agency in a year.

They are not going to trade for crap they don’t want just for the sake of getting something.

They understand that they’ll get 50 cents on the dollar at best.

They are not going to hand $219 million to a player, regardless of talent, who malingered and quit on his team for most of a season, unless they see a change in which he mans up and takes accountability for his behavior.

Because if he doesn’t, you can’t build a team around him anyway.

So they are fine with moving on.

But they are willing to keep the door open should he have a change of heart, up until someone offers a trade they like, or he leaves in free agency.

I think that report from S.A.S about him being open to playing for the Clippers means Kawhi doesn't really wanna play with LeBron if he can help it. I'm sure LeBron has contacted Kawhi and probably got the feeling Kawhi doesn't wanna play with him.

Jerry West would love Kawhi and I am sure he is quietly trying to put something together to try to get Kawhi

Ingram is a huge question mark, Kuzma is a warm body, and those picks will be , once Kawhi gets there.

Fultz has both a higher ceiling and lower floor than Ingram, Saric is...euro Kuzma, but that pick...that 2021 Miami pick is UNPROTECTED and could win you the lottery. Even Boston's Sacto is top 1 protected against a lottery win.
you forget randle, i don't like much a kuzma ingram pack but if we could have those three plus picks i'll be ok . Except Brow from Boston i don't see better options for youth ( not mentioning tatum).

And you could not say fultz is a better prospect than ingram now, maybe but we don't know.... Fultz , Saric plus picks is not enough for me or equal to randle ingram +/- kuzma and picks.

That's what I dont get. Everyone keeps talking about these great package the Lakers can put together but everything mentioned sucks.

Kevin O'Connor was talking about this and said if the Lakers put Ingram and kuzma on the table no one can compete with that unless Boston puts Tatum up.

Wtf O'Connor.... that package sucks. If all we get is Ingram and kuzma I'm going to be pissed.

More importantly, no trade (even if agreed to) will be completed if Kawhi's not 100% healthy.

That's another layer of drama we'll have to endure if a trade happens, e.g., would the ever-honest Kawhi tank the physical?
That’s an easy one. They’ll just show the team medical reports and radiology images from March until now showing them nothing was wrong with Leonard. Confidential of course.

If they trade Lonzo Ball or sign and trade Julius Randle to get assets and couple that with Ingram and Kuzma, what more could the Spurs ask for? They will obviously get a pick or two.

The Spurs could not get Randle and that would be better than getting him, for instance.

Word.. But ESPN has their angle. They want him in LA probably more than he wants to be. Jabari said not sure East teams have assets, that's just incorrect.

There is no godfather offer that could come from LA, that's a joke

Even if it was Ingram+kuzma plus unprotected 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025 firsts with optional pick swaps in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

And that should be the minimum

No kidding. I'm picturing Magic adding two more scrubs to his already garbage offer and thinking that PATFO couldn't possibly turn them down this time.

If we trade him for AD (i know it's not possible) would playing in New Orleans, LA still be considered LA for him and his camp?

The night life for black celebrities is not all that in SA. Got a feeling its more about culture.
Stop. First, the quote is "playing" not "living." Second Kawhi is not a night life guy during the season anyways. He's got a young family at home and is barely even seen out during the offseason.

I am not sure Kawhi and LeBron and a roster full of minimum contracts beats the Warriors. Or even the Rockets, tbh. One injury to the big 2 (one who is 34 and long over due, and another who is injury prone) and they're even lottery bound.

East teams are negotiating on a possible 1 yr rental basis. You cannot sell the farm and lose a player the next year. Your fans and ownership will fire whichever gm did the move.

Funny b/c we don't even know if the Spurs offered the supermax or, if they did, if he would take it. That's the most basic part of all of this and we don't even know that.
