Are we? Blaming the big bad media for the divide in the country is silly to me, it's like someone blaming the dog for their wife leaving them

uh, yeah I am blaming the media. You will always have hate and prejudice. You will never get rid of it. They manage to divide us on SOOOO many issues. Gay marriage, politics, kneeling for the anthem, transgender bathrooms, abortion, religion, race, gun rights, the list goes on forever. I'm not blaming the media for differences of opinion. That will always exist, but they manage to get us to bicker and debate each other on these issues practically to the death while they suck us dry of our time, labor, and happiness.



I'm just saying ingore it all and look at who exactly controls the media and what do they have to gain from pushing this crap ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

Kneeling for the anthem took off when the President attacked Kap; that isn't on the media, nor is the gun debate- that has more to do with people being sick of all the mass shootings (there was yet another one today).

Issues of race are often picked up nationally only because it goes viral on social media such as someone uploading a video or an article that gets widely shared and starts trending.

Again, blaming the media is ignoring the issues and finding a scapegoat.

It's not like people automatically know that he is The Big O- one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history, so I doubt he gets preferential treatment because of that and certainly not his kids and grandkids.

well, imo, Trump is just an instrument along with the media. The two go hand in hand. I’m not saying they create it, and I apologize of it came across that way. I’m just saying they exacerbate and fan the flames on these issues. As for social media, it’s beginning to lose its authenticity and beginning to be more controlled.

Its funny how we were told about Germany’s propaganda, Russia, North Korea, all these other countries spewing propaganda to their citizens and believing that we were different over the last 100 years...we are no different. We are subjected to the same misinformation and divisiveness..

im just saying this stuff is only to stoke the fires. Don’t let them get the best of us. Question the narrative and be discerning. It’s almost always negative. Divide and conquer, right?

Sure but saying he doesn't get discriminated against because who he is, doesn't take into account that not many people outside of the NBA circle knows who he is-let alone knows what he looks like, and certainly not his kids or grand kids.

In my opinion, saying that a black person can't speak up about social issues because he's wealthy/famous is both flawed and silly.

Racism is like a disease. You accuse someone of being racist they almost have to take a racist stance to defend themselves. I use to be a member of the NAACP and I can tell you that trying to fix a social ill by race will never fix the social ill. Focus on the social ill for everyone and the social ill will get addressed. If one race is truly affected by the social ill more than another then it will get fixed regardless. What I do know is we all do better at getting things done when we say we and don't use identifiers that divide us. Not all black people are alike. Not all white people are alike. Not all Asians or Hispanics are alike. We need to move to the age of the individual and stop identifying our worth by the groups we are a part of.

You don't have to apologize for your opinion I just disagree with it. The media isn't covering news for the uva-it, they have to make profits, that being said that doesn't mean that they sensationalize news to make a person, group, organization or political party look bad. I think blaming the media, is a misdirect that takes the pressure on those that need to be held accountable.

For example; the Trump administration came up with the "zero-tolerance policy" regarding immigration. After people starting protesting families being separated, media coverage, and poling showing 2/3rd of Americans disagreed with the policy, he blamed the Democrats, the media, and congress and said his hands were tied- two days later he ended his policy.

I’m not saying he can’t speak up, I’m just not assuming he experiences discrimination because he’s black
