Hopefully Philly feels spurned and offers us something good as a result of this. They could take an OKC-type chance at Kawhi and hope he resigns there after his contract is over.

I don't think Cousins would take a 1+1 from the Lakers if he can get a full 4-year max from another team. Or even 3 years. He just might be done as a max-level player, that injury is no joke.
One more hr and it'll be 12:01 ET. That's when PATFO shine. Who will be this year's biggest PATFO mistake?
I don't get PG13 staying in OKC for a 2-3 year deal. The whole point of staying in OKC would be to get that fifth year. A 3 year Bird max deal in OKC pays him $99 million while a 3 year non Bird max deal in LA pays him just under $96 million.
4 years, $52 million for Fathead
MLE wasted on Gay
Russell must be giving him that methlohoma good good tbh.
If Lakers film the remaining space with someone like Cousins seems that would gives Spurs a while lot of leverage on a trade with Leonard to Boston or Philly.
Loyalty contracts all around to further expedite the franchise's move to Seattle.
Most interesting thing will be who throws money at Randle first. Kind of disappointed to hear Dallas going after Jordan, since they would be one of the first teams you would expect to throw an idiotic max offer at Julian. Maybe Phoenix will.
OMG man if they end up using their capspace on Lebron and Cousins, lololololololololololol. I too would love for that to happen and then Kawhi will never be able to go to the Lakes.
Technically, I don't think they need the MLE to sign Gay, they can offer a non-bird deal to Gay with a small raise and preserve the MLE.
Not necessarily. It could, or both BOS and PHI could still think he’s just a one year rental and not want to give up assets. Ainge isn’t going to cave, and he’s not offering much. He doesn’t make trades unless he comes out looking like a genius. So if the Lakers are out of the running, and if BOS aren’t offering much, PHI isn’t going to offer much either and assume their offer is still the best.
What if Leonard’s given a trade offer of sign a longer deal with Boston or Philly, at least two years, play for the Spurs or sit out the year.
Yeah, seems like a straightforward reporter.
clippers getting excited again and back onto RCs phone “Well hi there RC, lets talk business little buddy”
If Lebron goes to LA then 100% Ainge won't budge on a low ball offer. Only way they would have been threatened is if Lebron went to Philly and Philly was going after Kawhi. At this point it seems like the only hope for a decent offer is Philly or Lakers. Or if Kawhi for some reason is willing to commit to the team that trades him (unlikely).
With his dip uncle running the show, he’d probably just sit out tbh.
I get the joke but I expect a 4 year, $28 million deal for Anderson, which is actually a really good deal.
Probably a prove it deal. If he’s an all star caliber player again, he earns that longer contract.
He’s eligible for a bigger max in two years (35% of cap instead of 30%) once he hits ten years of service. But agree, don’t understand why he doesn’t just do the 2+1 in LA.
I've grown to like him from the the TrueHoop/TBA podcasts too. He would've never gotten this platform without riding LeBron's coattails, but he's still alright in my book.
Works for me.
Because he wouldn't be able to get that deal in LA I think. OKC can give it to him since he was traded. Same reason CP3 had to be traded to get it in Houston I thought.
First thing I thought was it would be a two year max deal with a team option on the second year. But no, Wesley Matthews got a four year deal with a base salary of 19% of the cap coming off an achilles tear. So Cousins might actually have a chance of a similar deal but for 25% of the cap in his base salary. I'd be a little surprised if he got the full 30% max though.
