I actually agree with this. While Leonard seemed like a top 2-3 player for awhile, he just isn't consistent enough to compare to those guys. He isn't a good passer at all, or a playmaker who makes those around him better. He was a defensive beast 2014-2016 but who knows if he still has that quickness. His 3-pt shot looked liked it peaked and then got worse.

He's looking more and more like Derrick Rose to me. He looked like a top 2-3 player for a couple years.

Another issue with labeling Leonard a top 5 player is his complete lack of leadership and personality. All of those other guys, with the exception of Anthony Davis, are alpha players that want to be a leader. I don't think Leonard can handle the pressure of being the face of a franchise.

Then there's the fact that he quite possibly has a career ending injury.
this. But because he is such a great 2 way player you could rank him there...

I tend to agree though, at this point in time he has to prove himself to get back to that point (health and consistency). He will need one of two things, a good facilitator/pg or a system like the spurs. Like it or not, his offensive game needs one of those to get the team involved.

Durant, Lebron, curry are all good passers. I’m not a fan of any of them really but they do seem to have more play making ability. If I could have Durant right now vs KL, I wouldn’t think twice... same goes for curry, Lebron, and even klay Thompson. If he becomes 16-17 kawhi again then I’ll eat crow

Westbrook SHOULD be the best, but damn he’s stupid and selfish

    Don't be biter and salty.

A healthy Kawhi is easily a top 5 player in the league if not top 3.
Lol ok. Can you be any more influenced?

You can't exactly rank a player who hasn't played in a year, now can you?

He was the real MVP of 2016-17, though.

The guy is gone, and what he has done is ed up. Was a big fan, but don't like the guy anymore.

With that said, Spurfan saying he isn't top 10 is sour grapes. If anyone is being influenced its salty/bitter ass spurs fans tbh.

Agree. Pretty big assumption you can put him anywhere this year and you get a repeat of that season.

    Spur fans over rate Leonard.
Leonard is closer to the 10th best player in the league than he is a top 5 player.

    1)James
    2)Davis
    3)Curry
    4)Westbrook
    5)Durant
    6)Giannis
    7)Harden
    8)Embiid

All more valuable and better than Leonard
Kawhi is not top10 because of his health issues, not skill wise. If healthy, I would pick Kawhi over ANYONE on that list for a player to build my team around. Again, when healthy.

I really think they might make him play next season. Maybe they think if the season goes well they could win him back over. Winning can bring everyone together and if he really is 100% they could be a contender.

If he really goes downhill from here, that's gonna be a Bill Walton- and Grant Hill-level career dropoff. Except Kawhi was arguably better than both of those guys.

There have been many guys over the years who had limited careers because of injuries. Derrick Rose says hi.

I think an issue with Leonard is that his game depends on elite athleticism. He lacks many basketball skills so if he doesn't have the quickness and strength, he's maybe still a good player but not top 10.

Yeah, but I never considered Rose on that same elite level (despite the MVP...2017 Leonard >>>>>> 2011 Rose).

To me, Walton and Hill are the first two guys I think of who had superstar talent diminished to role player level by injury.
